Have my car booked in for MOT tomorrow and to have the brakes looked at, would like something done under warranty to cure the brake judder when scrubbing speed off or under heavy braking, am taking it to a dealer which has done this under warranty so will be interesting to se what they say. The one thing I have also recently noticed, possibly due to warrany nearly up is that the gear stick wobbles in fifth gear between 4-5k revs when accelerating, this does not seem to happen in any other gears?? is this normal and I have just not noticed this or is something else up? any body had this looked at before?

You could consider extending the warranty for another year. Ask the dealer.

All I will say is very good luck on the brakes issue, I tried a few different dealers on that one and they simply said if the cars over 6 months old its not covered in any way shape or form!

good luck on the brake issue as there really is no brake issue. This is the only forum on the entire planet that seems to convince itself there is brake warp

Indeed. Quick disc skim and some decent pads, problem solved.

even that? I'd say a lot is down to road surface type whilst braking will give different feedback, couple to the fact the forum convinced tself its a fault et voila...

Well it is a fault as the vibrate like hell! Not to say its not easy to solve but a problem does exist to start with, I didnt bother with the skim/pads as needed better brakes so thought might aswell try my luck with the dealer and get a brand new set to sell on but didnt work

I fully agree with the brake comments (as all other braking conditions are fine) apart from, there obviously is a problem with the stock pads, ie, they are no good, what get's my back up is that there has been plenty of issues with the pads and Vauxhall seem to think that something as important as brakes is not covered under warranty and does not warrant a recall, why should I have to pay out £200 odd quid to fix the problem ?? As i said before, the dealer I am taking it to has prev changed discs and pads under warranty on EssexHSV's car so will be interesting how they deal with mine. Will post up a post vauxhall visit with my outcome tomorrow. Got to be worth a shot, even if they agree to buy the pads !

What about my old GTS? That was a nightmare, new disks and old disks skimmed, still horrible.
Could have been dodgy hubs I guess. VXR8 is excellent so far.

Yes, just that. Nowt to do with road surface. Done so many now ive lost count. Refit stock pads though and it will probably come back. If its not too bad and the disc has suffered no permanent localised thermal damage, decent pads will often clean it up anyway.
