At Thunder Road this weekend I noticed my car went very light at about 145 and wandered slightly, did any other VXR8 drivers find that or was it just my car? I'm thinking it may have something to do with the spoiler, what was yours like Rich?

145 - think yourself lucky, my monaro and afaik its the same with most of them start getting a bit light at the front by the time you hit 100 unless you've had some bushes/suspension work done. maybe ask roger or mark to advise on how best to improve things for the vxr8.

Mine was fine, but I didnt get to a very high speed. I think Mel was in the car when I went fastest. Only around 140mph, but it felt fine. I had no spoiler fitted.

Also on a similar topic I noted someone had a strut brace on their vxr8, be interested to hear if that made much difference. I did on my old VT

No problems up to 155mph, no spoiler change but it has been lowered a little.

Magic thought he had the same thing but his car went through it.
Next time we do high speed runs I'll take the spoiler off and see what happens.
I was a bit disappointed my best timed run was only 148, should a LS2 VXR8 auto have done better? I don't think I went much faster in the afternoon, possibly 150/152.

Remember there is a ridge in the runway halfway down - we noticed it on the familiarisation run - even at 40 mph it was very pronounced.
My car (CV8 with spoiler) was going light/floaty at 130 ish but then coming through it and steady as a rock at 150...

Just had Walkinshaw fit a set of lowered springs and car handles and rides so much better than standard, its much less floaty and the 4x4 style wheelarch gaps have gone.

Car is as refined as it is in standard form, not bouncy like to many spring conversions but I guess with Walkinshaw being HSV that could be taken as read.

We offer a full range of R8 suspension products from a set of spring to all bushes, coilovers, dampers and roll bars as well as strut braces. there are significant improvements to be gained in this area. We will be putting some more stuff on the Maloo, which will be available for test drives

I hit 160mph at VMAX and the Monaro felt very planted

Took a while to stop mind you!

At my feeble velocity I could have stopped about 6 times, Jez on the other hand had to jump on the brakes from the 180+ velocity and still wasnt much runway left.

You should be pleased Shaun. Mine is LS2, cam, headers, intake and tune and about 300kgs lighter than yours and I only made 158. Wish I'd have put the underdrive pulley on now, might've made 160 :-(

As Sean says mine felt a bit light somewhere around 145. I pushed on and hit 160 and it did feel a bit better. I think the extra speed causes some of the air to bypass the rear wing as it breaks off the rear of the roof. Just an opinion.

Although I couldn't run, I have felt my GTS go light at the front around 130-135, the spoiler seems to reach it's maximum flex at this point.

Above this it settles down again, splitter must start having an equal effect?

take it its the length of the runway that limited so many of the cars to around 150? I've had 140 out of mine going uphill and it still had plenty oomph left in it so I'd have thought 170+ would have been nearer the mark for most?
