Next time you take your pride and joy VXR/HSV to the dealers, make a note of the mileage and make sure they don't take a drill to your bodywork.

What you ideally need is one of these...

However, don't feel exclusive, my brother in-law (affectionately know as Del boy Trotter to his outlaws) took his ML Merc in to a local MB dealer in Norwich for some warranty work to be done and the techs (???) had confused his car with another... What they had done, was removed the rear end panels and prepped it for paint work to be done (his wasn't in for body work by the way)... On collection they told him about the cock-up and had put it right, but on inspection he (Del boy) noticed that they had put the wrong body badges on for the model (all correct before it went in)!!!

Lesson; Don't take your pride and joy to a main dealer (i know from experience), go to a independent specialist... Quote; Don't go to the drive though, coz they will FcensoredK you at the drive through driving

Fair annoyance about the milage...but the number plate thing is a bit daft.

Lets face it, if he wants to show the car, just how exactly is he going to fit/remove the number plate leaving no marks whatsoever for any such shows. And most sticky pads will be a nightmare to remove.

I can certainly think of no temporary mount that would allow quick removal, leaving nothing visible at all.

Maybe this was just to appease the dealer...maybe he runs without a front plate???

I run a US truck and havent had a front plate on there for a long time. If I 'need' to have one, I had a local sign company make me one using lotack adhesive. Sticks on fine and when removed leaves nothing behind....

Either that or a motorised unit that hides the plate when ignition is turned off..

Somebody had a similar issue when their car went into a garage but this guy had a Road Hawk installed (Obviously the garage mechanics didn’t know it was there) and the whole road test was filmed... Its surprising what they do on road tests when it was only a simple fix job!!!
