......and I've only just started dealing with them.

I want the oil dropped, so booked the car in at the local dealership. They can't get an oil filter from Vauxhall direct as they aren't a VXR8 dealer, so they have to get it from another dealership. Then in that afternoon, I get a call. "We don't have an account, so can you order and pay for the filter, here's their number..."

So, I rang on Friday, and the dealer will ring me back on Saturday or Monday with the total cost incl postage. To the present time, I still ahven't had a call. With the postal strike, there's no way that I can get the filter by first thing Thursday, so I've cancelled the booking.

Looks like I'll take it to National Tyres, not bother getting the book stamped (as officially the car doesn't need doing) and save myself £130 in the bargain.

Does it ever get any better?

It can get worse oh yeh... back in August I took my car for its MOT, while it was there I asked the dealer to check the throttle body as it seemed to stick now and again.
The dealer agreed it was faulty and ordered a new one. As the car was almost out of warranty they said it was still covered. I gave a sigh of relief, as the item was listed at £700.00.
I am still waiting for the part and have been informed it should be here in JANUARY!!!!!
a couple of phone calls to Vauxhall complaints deptartment may have hurried things up a bit, I will have wait and see.....

I'm as close to France as you can get, so do your own geography to find the local dealer.

While you're at it, your maths is a little out. I'll be saving £130 by getting the oil change done by National Tyres, but they will still be charging me £30 including filter and Castrol Full Synth - so the cost from the dealer is more!
(That also means that National are undercutting you by £50).

I'd love to pop up to Monkfish, but fear it would cost me a lot more in shiney bits. redface

I think we've all had a main dealer experience and a story to tell during ownership of either a Ro or R8 wobble

Okay, I lied, it's £30.60 actually if you book on-line (10% discount), or £34 at the dealers, as long as your car takes less than 7 litres (IIRC the V8's are 5.7litres).

Nope, they use what is recommended for your car. My BMW (E46) was full synth. If the car is meant to be on semi, then the price drops to £28 - or £25.20 with discount.

Check against my reg Y769 RPY

Thast's ridiculous, you could probably get it in a week if you did it yourself and for a lot less money. Is that a possibility and then get them to pay your costs? The servo may be the same as on earlier engines in which case I've a vette fbw throttle here.

All done on Tuesday. K&N filter from flea-bay, and the oil was changed by National Tyres for £30. 5w30 Castrol Edge.

edge is castrol fully synthetic and that is very cheap but national has been known to be 'misleading' so be careful and make sure the oil they use is what your led to believe it is check the small print :-)
