Am I the only one who gets wound up by the crap seat belt reminder system on the Ro? Has anybody disconnected theirs?

I am guessing that simply unplugging from the buckle and bridging the wires should do the trick, but thought I had better check first before I risk an electrical fire.

Erm why would you be driving any real distance without your belt on?

I dont, thats the problem. The Ro belt reminder is so cheap and crude, it goes off when its not necessary. Like when the car is stationary and even in reverse etc, IMO its not fit for purpose. It is so poor it simply encourages people to disconnect it.

I'm ticked off with the one in our 8. My routine is to get in the car, start the engine, close the door, put my belt on, and drive away. With this car, I'm getting ticked off with it sounding from when the keys are put in the ignition. frown

I hate to say the warning gongs first time you put the keys in the ignition are starting to wind me up in my R8 as well.......as well as the seatbelt gong.

Yep, its the slow one. I always drive with my belt on so the other signal is not a problem. I just want to be able to load/unload the car, reverse and do perfectly normal things like that with the engine running.

Quick fix is to leave the passengers belt in all the time and transfer to yours when you need to....

With that it figures there should be a microswitch in the female end which you should be able to "short".......will take a look when I get time, the other ignition on gongs are more annoying for me tho to be honest.

Disconnected mine on a Volvo and Renault by undoing an inline connector under the front seat.
