For the record, VXR8 wheels are: -

Front - 8j x 19 ET48
Rear - 9.5j x 19 ET57

Still on standard tyres, I've currently got 8j x 19 ET35 on the front with no problems, but the 9j x 19 ET40 rears touch when you have a few people on board, and go over bumps. I'm getting the rear arches rolled a little next week to compensate.

PCD is 120 x 5. I also found that the nut recess wasn't wide enough to take the standard nuts (especially the locking attachment) so I've fitted 19mm nuts instead. Internal thread is M14 x 1.5

I'd be interested in any better fitting wheels you do find. cool

Hmmm, they are quite nice. Would they fit straight on a Ro with AP's? I still can't get my head round the whole offset thing.

Centreline of the wheel is ET0. If the wheelface (which mates with the hub) is halfway between the inside rim and the outside rim, then it's ET0 If, however that face is offset from the centreline, then the amount it is offset by is it's ET in mm. If you have two wheels of the same width, one standard, with ET0 and one with ET25, then the latter will sit 25mm further into the wheelarch (and may therefore foul suspension components).

Does that help?

If I understand it correctly myself, the offset of a wheel is the difference from the middle line of the wheel to the mounting face, this governs how far the wheel sticks out on the car it's self, in other words, if you had a wheel with a 40mm offset and you put wheels on with a 50mm offset, the wheels would stick out 10mm further than before, obviously the further they stick out the more chance you will have on wheel arch rubbing. think you can go 5-7mm difference without much trouble but will probably differ car to car.

That's the wrong way. If you go up 10 on the offset, the wheel will be further in the arch. Down 10 (ET30) will make the wheel sit 10mm further out of the arch. wink

I'm still none the wiser. I need someone to come along and say a CV8 with AP's will need wheels of this size and offset to fit, or to say "yep, those will fit". I don't understand why it's so hard to get wheels to fit a ro

Other than that, I'm still hoping a set of 19" VXR wheels will come up for grabs.

19 x 8 +45 offset should clear aps on a cv8 no problems as standard the wheels are +48 offset. It does also depend on the style of wheel.

As above, the standard 19inch VXR wheels will clear AP's no problem, so, in theory any wheels you can find that are 19x8 with a +45 offset and correct stud fitment should be able to go on your CV8 and clear AP's

Because thay are a long way from a standard PCD/offset combination. A combination shard by no other cars. Correct offset is no guarantee they will clear the calipers though.

I didn't think you could use the rear VXR8's because of the extra width fouling your wheelarches. If you can, I was offered a set this morning, with tyres that have done 900 miles.

edit: PM me if you want the guy's details.

as per my reply in the BBQ thread, it can be done, but it is a lot of work. Jez has them on his car.

Thanks for the replies folks. Had the VXR8 wheels fitted straight on, then I would have gladly had S WORTEC's from him in a shot as I like them too, they look great on Jez's VXR.

I've seen the pics on the Monkfish site of what they had to do to Jez's car to get them to fit. No thanks

Oh well, at least I know the 19" VXR wheels will fit, which I love the look of. Shame they don't come up very often.

New wheels will have to wait even longer, or I'll end up refurbing the CV8's.

I do like the wheels above though. I like the 5 spokes. The 5 spoke JAG-R8 used to have on his Ute were nice too.
