As the bug for power has well and truly got hold the cars going in to get mapped shortly to take advantage of the mods that have just been done, however one things inevitable and that is that I need a new bottom end for the next stage, however that cant happen probably until March ish when funds allow.

My question is for the short time until I get the bottom end re-built (bearing in mind the cars off the road for the winter) can I push my charger to 9psi for a short while, also bear in mind I hardly drive the car let alone very hard, thunder road was the first time its wheelspan or hit the rev limiter! I just love the mid range shove but hardly ever go above 5k rpm.

The mods that have just been done are a cam to suit FI, tubular manifolds, 100 Cel 3' cats, a cold air induction kit and a Maffless re-map, as the cam is now more suited to having air forced into it and the manifolds and exhausts let the gasses escape more easily can I get that little bit extra from the charger?

When the bottom ends re-built the charger thats on is getting replaced with something else, not decided what yet be nice if can get the most from it temporarily!

Its either possible but pushing me luck a bit or simply not, which is it? lol

Ask Rapid to set it up on their dyno. Mark will tell you straight what you can and what you cannot achieve on your current build.

Im running the 112 sc not the 122 like yours Mark and its the 6litre LS2.

If your on 9psi and been told not to do a cam on it think my 6 psi with a cam will be the limit then! Who told you not to do the cam?

Have no idea on the bhp now after the work thats been done as it hasnt been mapped yet, was say 500bhp before for arguments sake but no ones done the charger/cam combo ive got so could be anything!

Will give them a call and see, be nice if I could push the charger for a short while before doing the bottom end build

Yes.... but the stock pistons are not made for FI and are weak when pressed. Revs dont kill them it the internal pressure when your loading the engine. Having abused mine for 18mths at 12psi I would think you would be ok, just keep your intake temps down.

But by the sounds of it you`ll be getting more power from a lower boost due to the mods so I`ll bet you`re not at 6psi anymore so there is some additional boost available.

Drive at 70 down a hill........light engine load.
Drive at 70 up a big hill......heavy engine load.

The pistons in a high load situation resist the downward movement created by the charge igniting in the cylinder as they are doing more work.

I ran exactly the same spec as S800VXR, did numerous events and generally caned it when off road.
When the engine was pulled apart it was mint.......

I really dont want to speculate as to the cause of failure for Rogers engine, suffice it to say that a simple problem led to distruction at that boost level so I`d be inclined to stay put till you futureproof.
You are where I was this time last year and I decided if I was going to spend on more power I was going to get all the power I could afford in one go.
TBO unless you are after way more power I`d save your money as there really isn`t a great real world difference between 9 and 12.
I think I ran a 13.1 and AM04ARO did a 13.2 at the Pod one time.
