No matter how hard i try, i dont seem to be able to get the gauge to fill to the F marker, only to the one before.

Anybody else experienced this?

I've replied before to this.
I have 05 Monaro with the high level filler.
As long as the petrol trigger is held constantly until the click off, I get a full tank. Get distracted and let go part-way through, then not possible to fill the tank. Also, the tank needs to be way less than half-empty to get a full reading.

I have had a similar sort of thing, sometimes I fill up and it reads full another time it reads 75% not really that worried about it, seem to fill it up less than my landcruiser, its better on fuel now I have fitted my thunder pipes biggrin as you tend to change through the box quicker in built up areas biggrin

Agree with this. I had trouble with mine when I first got it getting it to fill up. Now I wait until I get down to around a quarter or a tank or slightly less, fill it until it clicks off, then finish off with another couple of clicks. Also, make sure the car is level. I used to fill up at a shell station that was on a slant and could never get it to fill.

I think it's somethng to do with the height of the tank when they moved it on later models.

I think the tank is like a bottle of wine, that last little bit in the tamk is a bottle neck, unless you fill it right up it will show low on the gauge, even if it shows full after filling, it very soon drops with a short run

Filled my 500 three times this week and the gauge showed completely full. Today same problem as yours!

It comes and goes for no reason I can find.

I think the problem is more to do with the sensitivity of the individual petrol pump auto-cut out than our cars. Some pumps cut before the tank is even 3/4 full, only on one occasion have I had the pump putting in more fuel than the car can take without it cutting out. If however I trickle in fuel after the cut-out, by holding the nozzle at the edge of the filler neck and letting it run in as fast as possible without overflowing, I can fill it right up. The needle is then off the top of the gauge – I can get from Bristol to Reading before the needle gets back to the "official" full mark, and into Chinatown with 3/4s of a tank remaining (about 120 miles from Bristol).

I had never had this problem until the other week. It started happening after I ran the car until it was completely empty (computer said 6 miles to empty), for the first time. The the first fill up and subsequent ones after that, I can only get it to 7/8 full. And im using the same pump as before.

Mine says 19.8, but its lower than that. I wonder if the larger injectors that are included in the VXR500 screw with the MPG calculation??

Apparently they actually didnt have larger injectors fitted as I found out this week when I need bigger ones!
