Maggie 2300 Charger
Discussion
Just got my GM Performance mag in and they've got a report on fitting one of the new Maggies (as used by wormus) to a 2010 LS3 manual Camaro - now okay its American dyno figures but they saw nearly 140 rwhp gain over stock!!!!! Seem to recall a few folk questioning the gains that were being claimed at the time because the older models were just about making those sort of gains in fwhp figures rather than at the wheels. Really does look like these new chargers are the dogs danglies for making huge power gains for relatively small amounts of money. Also suggest that anyone considering fitting one probably wants to think about saving up for some new internals as well

Does it mention the actuall boost pressures used for the gain in the mag Bob? I have no doubt that at high boost such numbers are achievable( as they are already with a 122). Its the Thermal efficiency that is better on these bad boys so I`m guessing thay can run higher boost for longer over their predecessors which is where the gains are.
If you wind back to the thread you are mentioning the real question was more to do with how so much gain was made with only 7psi on a std engine than the actual amount of power the TVS is capable of producing at max boost.
( That gain incidentally, was over 130 UK ponies at 7psi BTW)

I think with US claims there are certain things to remember. Inertia based dynos which are by far and away the most common over there will produce higher numbers than eddy current load bearing dynos. This rule applies here in the UK too.
You also need to loom at all variables too. Such as were the figures corrected or not. And then what fuel was being used 99 octane there is PON not RON so would offer up more hp and safer on a boosted motor.
Another thing is when they say stock. They don't always mean stock. I know guys out there running "stock" trannys. Yet they are fully rebuilt with upgraded parts and oil coolers.
Is the Maggie still an Eaton M112R?
Personaly would have thought a centrifugal or twin screw would be a better bet but I'm basing this on the maggie kits offered for the C5 and 6.
Full Wortec system and headers, sports cats and re-map to suit. Oh and a CAI kit. If money is an issue I would stay away from the SC route as it gets expensive! Strickly speaking I would not purchase another SC engine without forged pistons as the stock ones are just waiting to go, in my case I got away with murder for a while but they went in the end, the same as a few others on here, its just not worth the time and expense to play with stock ones... IMHO of course.

Now there's a paradox if I ever heard one.

Music to my ears. Soon you will join the next dot up and see that most power goals can be realised with just a forged engine and save the expense and complexity of all the additional garbage.
Of course if you want north of 550rwhp you will need some power adder, but under that IMO there is zero point.
