Watched a You Tube vid of Bathurst 2009, awesome stuff and it struck me how little body roll those cars have. I know they are set up with race suspension this n’ that but started to wonder what the best route was for roll reduction/stiffer ride on the R8. Don't want to go too low with all those sleepers about and already have Wortec lowerd springs fitted.

Seen the various offers around but thought some of you guys may have tried one or two of them. Suggestions?

Roll is controlled by roll bars which are inactive unless you corner or transfer weight sideways. So with the right approach you could pick springs that you like and not go to hard on stiffness. Then select roll bars to stiffen the car when cornering. Taking up slack from worn bushes will help but could introduce harshness into the car depending on how hard the bushes are.

Are there aftermarket roll bars available to you, if so you may be able to dial out some understeer?

Had some sway/roll bars on my old V8 Camaro. Hardly any roll on that afterwards!

Anti roll bars I presume, we are talking about here. Not those flimsy things between the struts, eh?

Done that ages ago when someone advised me I was wasting my time???

BTW. Its not all about fitting Anti roll bars willy nilly(or sway bars as the yanks and ozzies term them) . There is an important relationship between spring rates and the size/rate of bar you fit. It's carefully calculated physics and mathematics. Get it right and it's about more traction/grip, not the amount of body roll(which is a symptom of the set-up).

I've seen some very stiff boy racer stuff on the road with no roll at all, And I'll guarantee they grip like a complete pile of st and will be dangerous to boot.

Again, like everything else, do your research, before blowing your dough on combinations that won't work.

Peddars do some apparently nice adjustable anti roll bars. Theres an article on GM Hightech Performance about them on a Monaro (GTO)

Cool. Be good to get a UK perspective on them.

Not that the American's don't know what a corner looks like of course......

I'd be interested. As you mention Australia, are they Whitelines?

That'll be why they both make the same size then. smile

I've been looking at them since getting the VXR8, and mentioned you in a thread on VXROnline, knowing that you are now a Pedders dealer. I haven't found a problem with the standard set-up yet, but I'm sure I will suffer once I start driving a bit more enthusiastically.

Do you have an idea of a price point yet?

I do, but as im at home, ive no idea!

Ive got fronts in stock, but the rear is the most important one, (on an R8)

Very grateful for the thought, but by the time they are shipped and I find somewhere to fit them (because I'm not getting under the car in this weather), I'm a lot better off getting the whole thing sorted by Monkfish.

This sounds like just the ticket. Stiffer ride but without dropping her to the floor. But the very thought of "calculated physics and maths," means do I have to make freinds with my old teachers from school? Where can I find an educated prof in the arts of these calculations, or do I simply take it to one of the reputables and tell them what I want to get out of it?

Sounds like you are an astute person. Go for it.
