Car nearly didnt start yesterday - been sitting for over a week.

Havent got the car with me today - does anyone know what Ah the Monaro battery is ?

Is anyone using a CTek XS800 as it comes up a lot on Ebay - though indicates good for seasonal vehicles and charging of smaller things like lawnmowers ??

Any advice appreciated.

Dean.

I got one of those Black and Decker Digital Battery Chargers, does multi AH and you can also leave it on as a battery conditioner, they are a lot of money, £60-£70 ish, but is very compact.

Saying that tho, if you've only left your car for a week, would that not suggest the battery is FUBA ?? I can leave mine for 3 weeks and it starts no trouble, battery is the orig one so just over 3 years old.

Hi mate. I have come across this before. Sell a lot of theses to TVR drivers. U connect it to the battery and then just plug it in when u need it. We sell them at work for about £30. Check the link.

I use an Oxford Products Optimate. I've used them on bikes for years, and put one on our last car just over a year ago. I transferred it over to the new one two months ago.

Again, these are battery conditioners which trickle charge and maintain a battery, rather than being battery chargers which can cause problems if left on.

Dont know - could be the original i guess (56 plate) - could be coming to the end of its life i suppose - dont fancy buying a new one at the moment - was fine when i was using car every other day, but recently only once a week if im lucky.

Hopefully conditioner will see me thru winter - Car will get used less and less as the icy mornings arrive !!

if it kept in a garage and secure try locking with the key rather than having the alarm on, even little drain on a old worn out battery can cause it to not start.

How much are conditioners? may be false ecconomy to buy one if you intend to change the battery in the spring

Also try your local scrappy, they will probably have one to suit and only cost £20 or less and they are usually quite new, but all batteries have the date on them so you can check
