monaro pulls to left but dont worry thats normal
Discussion
after 3 weeks and the car returned 3 times from being aligned from a certain monaro specalist near me
the car continues to pull to the left
but don't worry everyone this is normal and to be expected of monaros they said
theirs even do it
they handed back the car last night
started going in a straight line
then 50 miles later i noticed it was starting to pull to the left
i am roughly 1/2 a tank of fuel down every time the car get 'Repaired' vauxhall will not tdiscuss the issue with me
they are to busy to talk to me when i call
anyone know a good solicitor
sorry i will rephrase that
anyone know a really evil solicitor
the only support i get is from vauxhall assistance

Having driven many many Monaro's, they do pull to the left as std. Most drift that way as opposed to pull, but they do head that way. Obviously the camber of the road can effect the severity of the feel etc. That said, it can be dialled out dependant on the accuracy of the set up guages the garage use.
It is a pet hate of mine, and my technichians hate it when I get a new one as they know it will be back in for fine adjustment until I am happy.
Difficult one for you though as it is a 'charactaristic' of the car, and may even be deemed a safety design so that you will always drift nearside if you nod off at the wheel etc.
(dont shoot me for that one, but have heard many manufacturers use it before!!)
Not sure where you are, but if you want a 4 wheel laser alignment with some interesting camber changes, then let me know.

Name & shame Splat.....
I've not had many dramas with my VXR to date (touch wood), but when it rained, my old Landrover filled up with water. All the Dealers could say was that they ALL did that and it was a 'design fault'.
My LR was £25,000 and first designed 60 years ago - When I spend that kind of money, I expect a car not to fill up with rain and that they would have rectified/modified any blatant design faults.

I've just gone through the same problem. Had the tracking checked, no difference. So took the car for 4 wheel geometry check at a local Rally specialist. I took advice from Roger at Monkfish and asked them to increase the total toe at the front to 15-20' rather than the factory spec. This is suppose to work really well, makes the car
more directionally stable and stops the classic Monaro tyre wear on the inner edges at the front, which I was also suffering from. Finally swapped the back tyres (that were only a month old) to the front. I've noticed a huge improvement - drove all the way from Manchester to Norwich and back at the weekend and I never once thought the car was pulling unaturally to the left.

Mine was fine out of the box, no pull at all. at 14k miles the fronts were shot, all round the inside edges was bald. Replaced all 4 with F1s and asked to have the alignment checked. They used a laser system, and said it was all to spec. (Igave them the correct data) I asked them to alter the toe slightly as advised on here, which they did. Ever since, in spite of 3 attempts to sort it, it still wanders to the left. However, the inside of the fronts is fine after another 14k miles. Drives very nicely apart from this niggle. Anyone who can sort it for me will get the business ! Hey Ho!

exactly the same problem
i wouldnt worry too much.... try driving a short wheelbase kit car 800kg and 200bhp - with loads of negative camber on fat low profile wheels! then you will know what wandering is all about ;-)
from my experience wandering tends to be more tram lining IMO on cambered rutted roads and gets worse if you run a lot of negative camber (you need it to get the thing to work on fast stuff) As a result the tyres wear the inners which is normal for this type of set up. obviously if you were hammering the car around corners in theory the tyre would wear evenly due to the camber ;-)
Horses for courses? reduce the camber and it will reduce the wear, reduce the wandering and reduce the road holding. I'll live with the tyre wear and wandering personally.
lower the profile fatter tyres exagerate it even more (went from 17s to 18's on the porsche - was aweful in comparison but did look nice)
