Are there any dash warning lights this upgrade effects?

I know on my LC you end up with a bulb warning light constantly (main reason I've not bothered).

If you get a canbus-friendly setup you shouldn't trigger any warning lights.

Been running my canbus ones for a few months and no warning lights at all.

Moif,

Your advice about wheel removal and taking back the wheel liner I think will save me a lot of effort in about a week or (when my kit arrives and I have some spare- ha ha, time). I would have been wary of accessing via that route.

Thanks for that, Steve

I used http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/ and bought one of their Canbus kits
Did you have to drill the bulb cover to fit this or was it a straightforward plug n play install?
Also, where did you take the extra live feed from?

It was only when i was putting a bulb in before and dropped the cap and it didnt fall out the bottom,so i took the liner out to see if i could see the cap .....Bingo

Yup, drill the lamp covers (kit comes with a water tight bung)

One Ballast hidden under the washer bottle, the other under the fuse box.

No extra live feed that I remember?

Hmm ... this could be me misunderstanding the pidgeon chinese translation and generalalised diagrams!

I'm now thinking that the two extra spade connectors are connected inside the headlamp unit as they extend through the supplied grommet.
Seems logical now I look closer as otherwise there's no trigger connection from the original loom banghead

Does that sound about right?

Excellent Moif. They have now arrived - need to send Paul his set and find an hour to fit them.

Sounds right to me, two spade connectors plug into the socket that originally plugged on to the back of the old bulb, these supply the feed from the light 'switch' to the ballast, then you have the two wires from the ballast that run to the HID bulb.

Make sure those spade connectors are nice and tight in the original connector because they can eventually pop back out and leave you in semi darkness!

Guess I'd better get on with the job now.
I seem to have run out of excuses!

You are correct. Fantastic. cool

Thanks for the tip wrt wheelarch access.

Only real complaint on this kit is that there is way more wire than you need - half the lengths provided would be ample, and would have made it much easier to tuck everything back behind the new caps.

How do these ones connect in to the existing wiring?

Larger black connector pretends to be the halogen bulb. Ballast moulded into replacement cover plate - smaller connector links to wire on the new HID bulb. Simples.
