Right, this weekends job is to change the plates over...

We've currently got a stick on front numberplate - we bought a replacement stick on and normal plate (for MOT) but the stick on plate we have bought is in a stupid font, rather than the almost-legal normal font we wanted. I am leaning towards fitting the normal plate permanently, however, the curvature is making me think twice...

What set up do you have? (if possible with photos) and any tips??

frown I think we'll have to get another stick on one. Any recommendations as to where to get it? The fancy plates one we have was meant to be standard font, but its stupidly squished. frown

Triac, what colour is that? Initially I thought you had posted a photo of ours! hehe

Sorry it's the only vaguely useful image I have at the moment though car is much cleaner now. The mounting plinth is from a mk 1 MX5; fits perfectly. I know many don't like them but I think it's much tidier than bending the plate. And I've occasionally used it as front parking sensors without problem. Ahem wink

JRB - my main car is a Mazda mx5 mk2, and I have a spare plinth... but I couldn't bare the look of it on the mx5, let alone the beautiful T350c!!! Just personal preference, I can see the benefit of a sacrificial section at the front though - thats part of the reason I'd like the plate there rather than a stick on generally.

Looks good with no plate atleast. hehe Dad is going to have a look at it tomorrow (he is away atm) and we'll make a decision then.

Some more for good measure.

Slightly smaller works well IMO, would be ideal if you had a shorter private plate:

Goodness, I'm afraid I can't remember. Lovely drive out from my parent's house a few years ago. Was definitely in the environs, so let's say yes! Well done smile

Fair enough - as you say, each to their own. I agree the best outcome would be to move over to an American rear-plate-only system!!

Thanks all, will have a word with Dad later about what he wants to do. The back looks good atleast. thumbup

Out of interest, where did people get their stick on front plates?

Edit;

Now fitted the front plate, normal plate, bent - stuck in various places and screwed. It'll be perfectly legal and its nice to have something sacrificial for any cone-hitting moments at the front! hehe

Mounted it a little lower now though than originally, just to make sure the gap is managed behind the plate itself around where it is fixed on. smile
