dont know what thread is but when i changed mine the thread was so B********d that i ended up cutting old knob off and buying new stick stem (it was only around 12 quid) So i suggest buying new stem and send that to gear knob maker.

Thread is fine thanks & i have a ceramic stick to fit anyhow but thanks for the tip.

I have discovered that the thread is 1/2" UNF.
