ACT Big Bore Exhaust System - quieter option for de-cats
Discussion
ACT and JP have developed a trackday-friendly option on my T350, probably suitable for Tamoras and Sagaris as well.
In March I had ACT's new big-bore system fitted, which sounded gloriously throaty on part-throttle, but on wide open throttle barked a bit above 4500rpm. The proof came last month it reached 105db @ 5k revs on the standard static db test, which was going to cause problems at many trackdays. The culprits were my high-flowing Quick de-cats - the standard design would be fine with cats.
ACT and JP were very helpful, and in short order a day at JP was arranged where they dismantled then re-welded the entire stainless system, selecting much longer centre cherry-bombs, and larger 3" diameter tail pipes with short perforated inserts as a final tweak to take off some 'rasp', they told me. Personally I reckon these suit the rear apron of the car much better than the small originals too.
Oulton Park trackday yesterday in similar dry but cool atmospheric conditions revealed an impressive reduction, on the exponential decibel scale, right down to 101db.

Just had the same exhaust fitted and now paired to a set of Dave Chant's de-cats.
If you don't want pops and bangs, you DON'T want this setup. Previously with stock back box and decats, I'd get a small pop on the overrun c. 3k revs and a very occasional one on up-shift, now you get it from c. 4k down and frequently on the up-shift at high revs as well. Some of them are also quite loud.
Personally, I love it.

Mallory?

and have an equally quiet (hopefully) back box waiting to go on shortly too.
