I know one of the common issues with the T350 is the shocking fit of the glove box lid. I've done some research (using the search functionality!) and studied my glove box assembly.
I have a T350c 2003 (I.e with no finger recess and a push catch to release) and my lid needs quite a bit of attention -
Left hand side needs to be lowered ~10mm and brought forward (towards the passenger seat) ~8mm
Right hand side needs to be pushed back (towards windscreen) ~5 mm
So the whole thing needs an anticlockwise 'twist'.

I'm considering a couple of options -
chopping away the middle section of the 'u' shaped hinge and fabricating an aluminium replacement,
Relocating the hinge lugs (probably second choice at the moment)

Anyone ever tried either of the above 'fixes' or similar?

And (possibly more important)... Anyone know of where I can purchase either the 'u' shaped hinge or the actual glove box compartment - or a whole glove box assembly? I've checked the usual websites and can only see replacement lids?

Thanks

Now now, use the right language, the glove box lids are 'personalised'. wink

Other than that, I'm afraid I can't help. I use my glove box very little to avoid the consequences of 'personalisation'.

Apologies, I guess then it was 'personalised' at request by the previous owner. A wonky glove box lid is quite a specific request to be asking for at the time of buying... But each to our own.

I'm after a replacement really so I have a fall back before attacking the thing with a saw!

I have also considered doing away with the actual compartment and 'just' sticking the lid in place- although that's a last resort as I'd much rather fix than bodge!

Take it out and reverse the springs. This keeps it shut and stops it laughing at you every time you go over a bump. It also helps keep it in shape and looking good.

I have done the 'reverse springs' fix but this backs little difference to fit of the lid. Thanks anyway

You can get the lids in FRP (st quality mind) from Racing Green for about 35 quid. They're easy to remove and modify. I've made around 5 now in carbon or kevlar so had more experience than most in sorting the fitment out. I have a spare carbon lid if you're interested, it has the later spec recess. You can also remove your leather, modify your lid with a dremel and recover with contact adhesive and your leather.

Thanks - I have seen your previous posts and toyed with the idea of taking you up on a Carbon lid. However, thats opening the flood gates to more very expensive carbon replacement parts... - as a solitary carbon glove box lid will look a little odd.

I think, as you've also stated, my best bet is to look to reseat the lid (or a new lid)on the hinge rather than actually chop and change the hinge assembely.
Any tips on removing the lid from the hinge - or is the only way destructive to the existing lid?
