What's up with fitting a HID kit? (assuming its performance thats the issue) Did mine two years ago now works purfect, no MOT issues spot on alignment so they are not antisocial and the best bit is I can see where I am going. £110 and about 2hrs to install.

Shep i assume you'll read this at some point wink but when you said this ^^^^ were you able to do it yourself or is it a garage job.

Easy job to do yourself. I will email you a summary of whats involved. Regarding the MOT, the rules on HID lights will change Jan 2012 if the proposals get passed (google it). Should still be OK but I think an early MOT this year is in order.

There are some weird electricals issues on some cars when the HIDs are fitted.

I had mine done and they made the radio not work, wouldnt pick up signal, and also the dash lights would sometime not fully illuminate properly (sometimes they did!?).

So eventually they came out and i replaced them with standard bulbs again, but went for the Osram NightBreaker bulbs - they seem pretty good (although obviously not quite as bright as the HIDs), but they do look white and have nice white side lights to compliment them.

Thanks for the replies chaps, Shep did PM me and it looks like quite a job for a mechanical numpty like me. I'll look into the Osram Nightbreakers as an alternative, they've got to be better than what's in at the moment; i need to do something, as recently i followed Kevin63 up the A1 he was unable to see my lights due to spray after a light shower - not good

I bought the cheapest kit from Ebay (about £50) just get the twin hi/lo kit. It's time consuming to do well but a piece of piss to do the work. It's basically replace bulb, secure ballast and wiring, plug in to original lamp plug and wire to battery.

Anyone could do it smile
