I wired a drop lead onto the main engine bay fuse (infamous 100amp one) and suitable earth and routed that to be accessible from the rhs rearmost bonnet edge. it has a small plug that accepts the chargers lead. Simples.

Thing is the car already has an accumate plug hard wired just under glove box area.

Like others, leave windows 2/3rds down in garage so no problem.

You can also just close the lead in the door, at the front. Seen a few people here do that.

They do. Seems others are like me and leave the car unlocked in the garage.

I figure the garage is alarmed on front and rear doors, and it is attached to the house. If they get in there the car is still immobilised. Plus our neighbours have a nice shiney X5M on the drive (vs my Panda) and a new 997 in the garage with no alarm on the door or covering on the window (so you can see the car). Thieves will go next door.

Check your insurance documents.

You may not be covered if your car is not locked and alarmed.

I mounted a Mag-Code plug into the battery cover in the wheel arch, so I can close the car and leave the Charger connected.
The plug doesn't have power on it until you connect the other part which holds by magnetic force. The dirt und water in the wheel arch are no problem for the socket.

And: If you drive away without disconnecting it will part without damage ;-)

Look here: http://www.magcode.de/english/power.html

Where do you get the Mag-code plugs from as the site shop is closed?

Hi,
I'm from Germany, so I ordered the parts from a company called SVB, a shop for marine supply, don't know if they will ship to the UK:

But I've found a shop in the UK:

This! When the window is fully closed there is always a small gap at the top between the glass and the roof. The cable is gently trapped between the rubber door seal and the side of the window

Just be sure to wrap a cloth around the trailing cable to prevent rubbing marks.

Yes thats the way I do it and never had any problems for more years than I can remember, the rubber door seal stops any damage to cable.
