I spent the day at Abingdon airfield yesterday with a track day organised by Ed of Mototsport Events, my first ever trackday and it definately won`t be my last!

the trouble is I didn`t realise just how supurb the sag is on track, afterall it is where it was intended to be,so the problem is the driver, heheI had an instructor,Jason an ex formula renault driver out with me for a while at the start, and after a few laps I started to get into the swing of things.

I `ve got some video footage which I`ll post a link up to as soon as my pc is fixed, don`t think my prehistoric laptop wil cope at the moment, the film was done using an excellent bit of kit I bought from Andy at tvr monster, shows revs, speed, throttle position, allsorts of technical stuff that highlights how slow you are when you watch it at home the next dayhehe

I also booked a 1hr driving limits/handling course on a seperate part of the airfield in the afternoon, I did one of these courses with ride drive in my griffith some years ago and was really looking forward to the donuts and drifting side of things as this was so easy to do in the griff, but in the sag it was not so easy, and the car grips so bloody well to the road,it takes a lot for it to let go, and in cornering was more of a 4 wheel drift rather than the back end coming out, my instructor had a go as he also taught drifting, so I persuaded him to give me a demo, and was amazed at the way the car would grip, he,d get it out and start drifting no problem, but it very quickly gripped and swung the back end the other wayhehe he was very impressed with the sag and said it was such a shame that such a great handling car was no longer being made.

hopefully Andy and Perry will get me up to speed on track at Spa this October, really looking forward to it, these cars are so impressive on track, and will be even more so once I grow some bigger balls and gain some more experience.rofl

Good work Clive.

The Sagaris was born for the track, road driving can never give you the buzz like taking it on track can, if set up right I think you would find it VERY hard to get into trouble.

R888's are the way to go mate yes

Still trying to get on the trackday, I will be there regardless though mate, might have to settle for a day of passenger rides smile

Most who have been on a track day when my Sag is there will know it turns into a bit of a "ring taxi" I hardly do any laps on my own apart from the first couple to get myself sorted out - it will be a pleasure to take you out and I look forward to it smile

a vid now up on you tube, first time out on my own after 20 mins with an instructor, was a bit hesitant about putting it up as the more I watch it the slower I seemed to be going, didn,t realise at the time how low down I was in the rev range hehe but it did feel quick at the timehehe

hehe It isnt an RV8 Clive!!

Speed comes with experience and instruction, now you're hooked, both will happen quickly I think. smile The key thing at a trackday is to have fun, no matter what, I'd say you were successful, even if you barely used enough revs to run it in... hehethumbup

:hehe I know ben, it looks lke Im popping out to the shops!!
there just semed to be so much going on, well in my head that ishehe in all honesty it would have possibly been better to have the 1hr limits session first, as that gave me alot more confidence knowing how far you have to push the car to get it to slide, so on the plus side I can only get quickeryes

Better to be safe than sorry Clive, with 888's on a nice dry track you will be amazed how much grip you have, you would have to do something amazingly wild to lose the car.
