Mine's up for sale as I'm not going to be able to use it much for a while...

I don't need to sell, so was considering just keeping it and leaving it in the garage.

I was concerned that usually lack of use = problems, is that the case for those PHers who lay theirs up over winter etc?

I have my car garages over the winter for about 4 months with just a battery charger plugged in and it started first time with no issues.

May be wise to leave the hand-brake off, it can seize up over a period of time.

I would definately change the oil and filter before laying up for more than one month. Acids and condensates in old oil can do lots of damage/corrosion to engine internals. I have lots of experience with aero engines and have seen the damage first hand.

hi

The oil will be fine as will the filter. The semi synthetics that are used in speed six are usually good for 12K miles anyway and will not break down + the oil will be living the dry sump tank. further more the aviation oils are vastly to road oils in chemical make up, weight viscosity and usually use mineral or ashless oils which break down very quickly be it single or multi-weight oil its all down to shear values.

My Westfield TVR 450 powered V8 ran mineral 20-50 and never had an issue. If in doubt check the dip stick and feel the oil between your fingers there's a marked difference between the feel of a good oil to bad broken down oil! The Westy was normally off the road for roughly 6 months and generally started 1st time with out issues.

The Tamora will be SORNED in lat October until probably April the only thing that will be done it to put it on axle stands to take the weight of the wheel bearings and the addition of a trickle charge

Mattt - stuck Candy in storage as she was, no oil change or anything. All the guy did was keep it covered and started her every few weeks.

Came back to it after 18 months or so, started fine, then took her for a mini 12k - no problems at all.

Gonna do the same if I leave again.

I'm starting to think that's the best way - did you keep it insured while you were away?

I've dropped the price down now to £24,495 - which for a 2006 car in great condition I feel is a pretty good price - and if it doesn't sell in the next couple of weeks, then into storage it will go, and the price will go back up, as I'll have plenty of time to wait to find the right buyer!

Yea, don't want to risk anything with Candy (Or Daisy for that matter).

I'll bring it over to you, along with Chilli's R1 / Gixxer / whateverthehellheisgettingthisweek wink

Good idea putting the price up. Barry Ashcroft increased the price of his Tamora. He also wasn’t in a rush to sell and he almost got the asking price plus kept the sound system and updated steering wheel and the car is now residing in Germany

When any of my cars have been taken off the road for the winter (Oct-April) I normally SORN them but keep the insurance, however, you want to keep it taxed for any potential buyer wanting a ride/drive.
