Calling Cerbera to T350 converts
Discussion
Thanks to an upturn in my business I think I am now in a position to come back to TVR ownership, and all its associated costs!
Previously I have owned a 4.2 Cerbera, which I loved o bits and which I was very sorry to see go a few years back, but absence makes the heart grow fonder? Well I Am now seriously looking at a Cerbera or a T350. I love the looks of both, also the different interiors and the fact that the T350 only has two seats doesn’t worry me. Whichever I choose I will be looking to take it to the South of France a couple of time a year.
Really what I am on here to ask is are there any converts from Cerbera to T350 on here? How do they compare? What are they like to live with on a daily basis, and how does the performance difference stack? Also, what sort of MPG do you get, I am not sure why I am asking that, and are they ok with sitting in a traffic jam on the M25 in August?
I will be looking for a 2003 on car with a subtle interior, no bright yellow and blues! I wont do too many miles a year, working in Singapore and living in Essex means I fly more than I drive and I normally get a taxi to LHR, so it won’t be in a long stay car park for ages.

Hi.
The Cerbera is the more special car. The T350 the more competent straight out of the box and grows on you more over time. The T350 is easier to live with than the Cerb on a daily basis, its easier to drive, feels better put together and better resolved - as an example, the aircon is better than our BMW, the Cerbs wasn't quite as good, but it had a better vent for the driver... the steering wheel vent is much missed, however the wobbly steering wheel is not!
Performance will underwhelm initially. The Cerb (or atleast ours) had so much more torque that it very nearly stayed as our competition car. We then found out how high the T350 revs. It does the numbers, definitely - you need to rev it hard though, at lower rpm it is so docile that it almost fools you into thinking it isn't that quick. It does still lack torque compared to the Cerb and the gearing is longer - a 3.4 diff vs 3.7, but it is also lighter - in our case, 100kilos lighter according to MIRA's weighbridge, so the difference is actually very small, if there is one. In competition, it is yet to beat a Cerbera personal best, but it is only a matter of time/ new tyres we think, it was within tenths on its first time out! We'll get straight line figures soon from the Brighton Speed Trials, I suspect it'll be very close... The only area where the T350 is noticeably worse is in initial braking, there is less bite to it - but again, the data shows the overall stopping power is there.
It is fine in traffic, but we have an alloy rad/ new hoses etc etc... I guess it is on a par with the Cerb here - neither car ever seemed too bothered by heat thankfully.
MPG wise, its a bit early to tell, but 20ish average overall, with highs of 32mpg so far without even trying - its slightly better than the Cerb in this regard too, but that is to be expected.
I'd say go for it, as a fun car with occaisional day to day stuff thrown in, they are utterly superb. Ours seems to be better with every drive. However - as an out and out toy, the Cerbera is a hard car to beat - it is instantly special, less of an allrounder, but better for it in pure thrills. From what you have suggested, and with the previous Cerb ownership in mind, I would suggest getting a T350c, but I'd say go for a later car, a 2004/5 onwards personally.
I actually prefer the S6 sound 90% of the time, I think it is the prettier of the two cars and it feels safer/ more secure somehow. I still miss the Cerb though, I'll buy it back/ get another when I can keep both comfortably in the future.

I would agree with everyting said above. Compared with my cerb the t350 hasnt got anywhere near the torque but the T350 absolutly thrives on revs. Its better put together and I think easier to drive quickly than the cerb. Overall I think it just feels a lot more modern.I will get another cerb but at the moment Im happy playing with the T350
