Tamora not starting
Discussion
Hi everybody
Im new to the forum, i own an Tamora 2002 here in Switzerland (one of 3 cars registered here)
I have a starting problem.2 days ago after a shortish trip,ca 8 miles, engine warm...etc ,after stopping the car would not start again.Engine turned but didnt run.Approx 3 hours later i tried again, didnt start.First thing the next morning it fired up first time,i drove approx 800m,stopped and went shopping, started and went home again only approx 1km away.Early afternoon started first time and i drove approx 1km and stopped.Car then didnt start.Same situation, next morning started first time, drove home ca 1km and stopped.Didnt start again ca 20 minutes later.
I was asked, after calling the garage in U.K who sold the car to me,if the fuel pump was primimg, i understand you can hear this quite clearly ?I also presume it is nothing to do with the immobiliser as the engine turns ? After reading through the handbook i also pressed the switch on the (relay, connector )that resets the ecu or fuel pump if you have had an accident.
Any ideas or tips greatly appreciated as nobody here can help.

Definitely try and listen if the fuel pump is priming (turn off the fans by pressing the fan speed button to make it easier to listen). however, what you describe sounds like an intermittent electrical fault to me. I would check all the relays are well seated, and also look at the immobiliser - is the light going out before you trying to start? If the car fails to start, if you then turn off, lock/alarm it and then unlock it and try to start it again is the problem still there?
Hi
The engine turns over but doesnt start.I have tried many combinations of alarm, immobiliser...etc, the red light light does go out.
It seems strange to me that it will start again, first time, after leaving it for several hours.Yesterday 2 very short trips before it refused to re-start.Today,again leaving car overnight, started first time, 1 short trip and then again refused to start.
I think i didnt always here the pump priming.

Try the relays as 'Targ'says.
If you know the relay layout positions R33 & R53 need should be checked.

Yep another for this its pretty rare that pumps fail but relays are more common . Have the relay out and check the the blades for corrosion (mosture biuld up from damp climate) if they are clean them up re-install and try starting. Failing that just replace it... the choice is yours. let us all know how you get on.If you know the relay layout positions R33 & R53 need should be checked.

Hi
It seems, after investigation, that the fuel pump rely was corroded. The three pins were corroded and the innards of the relay itself were heavily corroded, water ingress ?
Thanks to all who replied to help me out.I travel now with several spare relais and fuses.
Thanks again for all the help.
