TVR T350 - Cluster/Clocks not working after flat battery.
Discussion
Hello,
I have a T350C in stock and as is the way of cars not being used its battery has flipped over onto its back and died. I'm sure with its last amp of power it flicked the bird at me and laughed. Bloody batteries!!!
Anyway...I've trickle charged the battery to a point, but after two days the charger is still telling me that it's below par, however it does start now. The issue is that I don't have any clocks and I don't seem to have a fan/heater control now.
Is this a blown fuse, gremlin or just an under cooked battery not putting out enough juice?
I've left it on charge and will look at it again on Monday and replace the battery if required, just wondered if anyone could give me the benifit of their TVR battery history?
Thanks,
Ed - shmoo auto

Dash & heater controller share the same ECU in the drivers footwell behind a velco panel next to the welly pedal.
check the Third (#18) & Fith (#20) fuses down from the top of the fuse board (where the two strips of fuses meet) these are the fuses for the dash ECU. Do you get an EFI fault on start-up? Fuel injection ECU is also on fuse #20.
If the fuses & connections are OK you might have killed the ECU that will be an expensive repair.

Thanks Shep,
I wasn't getting anything from the dash at all so not sure if any faults. Will check the fuses tomorrow. The window was also slow so I'm wondering if I'd be best to fit a new battery and eliminate that problem as well and go from there. I seem to spend a fortune on TVR and Porsche batteries.
Can you bugger an ecu by trickle charging a TVR? That'll teach me to make it all lovely, cover it up and not use it. I should have taxed it and driven it around for the last month and enjoyed it.

New battery for sure, when they end up flat as a witches tit, unless they are new its never going to be the same again. Charging on a trickle charger in itself should be OK (I use a C-TEK all the time) not sure what would happen say if you switched the ignition on without taking it off charge?I wasn't getting anything from the dash at all so not sure if any faults. Maybe just the small battery on the dash ECU is empty. This button cell gives the dash clock electricity if ignition is off (or low or no battery in the car, I am not shure). If the clock gets no power from ignition or its batterie then it is "lost".
However, installing a new batterie will not help as there is no possiblity to re-program the clock. You will need to have it re-programmed by a specialist, e.g. http://pselectronicsolutions.co.uk. Paul helped me with another dash ECU issue.
Another possibility is that re-charging the car's battery may have destroyed the dash with a power output higher than allowed. But I am shure you would than have any fault shown on the display as I had on my display than. ( warning codes and fault codes see here).
