The Sag has developed a coolant leak, have checked all hoses which seem to be tight, but suspect it may be the radiator, so will be booking it in to get it checked out.
Anyway, want to top the level up before driving as level as dropped a little.
Now, it has Blue coolant in the expansion tank, however, my T350 has Red coolant in. Without getting to technical can someone explain the differences.
I undertand that you shouldn`t mix the two, and i thought that most cars now use the red stuff.

I have brought this to top it up http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/...
It says that it is ok for Ali engines. I presumme that you dilute it 50/50.
Appreciate any advice.

Hi Nigel, wouldn't it be best to ring whoever last serviced it, as they know what they put in last time.....

Hi Phil, yes, its a 2006 model so well after the 1998 as stated on the packaging.
But, as i said, i thought that the red coolant had replaced the blue stuff years ago, but it still seems that garages are still using it, presummably because its cheaper.
I just wanted to make sure that the stuff i have brought is ok to top it up with.
Its due its big service next time, so will be getting the coolant flushed out and changed to the red stuff, that way both cars will have the same stuff in, and will only have to buy one lot instead of twohehe
My Griff also has the blue stuff in, so our two engines would be the same, all be it one was made pre 98 and one after 98.
If the red stuff has a longer life, ie 5 years as opposed to two, surely, it must be a better bet to have the red stuff in, or am i missing the point somewhereconfused

Forgot to mention matey

You can tell when someone has cracked it in life, when priority is which colour coolant they shoud use.

I love it, keep up the good work, and don't forget my invite for a test drive in the Green Monster.

Hope to see u and Sue soon.

Regards

Matey;)

Classic answer matey. Thankyou for reminding me. To be honest I forget the selection.#

We must add T350c and of course a Griff 500 or maybe a pre-cat!

Before you panic - they do use a drop if they spend a lot of time in traffic - probably a pint or two in two or three thousand miles. Over the years I've worked on the basis of - long jam - water required at the weekend. Usually you get an indication as well as the temp starts running a degree or two higher.

I always say - no pool on the garage floor - no worries!

If correctly filled, leak free and the releif cap is ok they shouldn't Jasper.

Top it up with tap water, shouldn't be a problem if you loose some of the % concentration.
