Driven to Work this Morning and No Fans!
Discussion
Hi,
Can anyone help, I've driven into work this morning and the fans failed to cut in whilst parking and I managed to lose a bit of water, not much really about 1/2 litre if that.
The coolant sensor is working and displaying temperature on the dash. Going to have a look at relays 51 and 23 at lunch time, anything else I should check???
Can I swap the relays with something I dont need like a horn? if so anyone know which relay?
Thanks
Mark

Mark, the exact thing hapened to me on Tuesday, in the bloody rain, I had to pull over to check what was going off, I lost about 1ltr of water out of the expansion bottle, checked the connections on the fan & they came on but not fully like half speed.
I swapped the relays around & checked the fuses, which did not make any difference.
I am going to get the volt meter on my fan connections to check voltage & check the relays are working okay,
my gut feeling on this one is a dodgy earth connection on the negative as it seems fine in the dry fan one kicks in at 91 degrees & fan 2 at 94 degrees,
Will post my findings once I have had a good look today, But check the obvious first

All sorted,
Thanks for the replies.
Turned out to be a corroded connector on the fan, I did find a neat trick that may help others though. I managed to remove the cap off one of the fan relays and you can pull the coil across and force the fan to run. The relay cap is really easy to remove as it's only held in place with a couple of clips.
