Nurburgring Taxi almost wipes out T350
Discussion
Just got back from a trip to the Ring and have a story to tell...
On my second lap i was unfortunate enough to be in the middle of an 8 car accident but luckily escaped untouched. 2 previous accidents had left the circuit partially blocked, just over a blind brow. As i appeared over the crest, a Corvette and an M3 had stopped slightly staggered about ten yards short of a broken 911. Unsure whether i'd stop in time i moved to the left side of the track and when was probably below 5mph, the Ring Taxi came sliding in from my right, taking out both cars before hitting the barrier just in front of me! Luckily i was far enough over and hadn't commited myself to passing the 911, or the Taxi would have T-boned me. Scary stuff.

First, glad the T350 is unharmed and hope any injured folk are sorted asap. Second, the T350 looks great.
Third, the 'ring Taxis are now driven even worse with less regard for the rules and more importantly, others safety;

I've seen a vid of the accident itself and it was bad, really feel for those that suffered injury/car damage. I hope BMW reviews its drivers/ actions with the 'ring taxis asap.

Watching this footage the lovely T350 was literally a second from being wiped out by the Ring Taxi that collided into the Vette etc.

How come i stopped and the Ring Taxi didn't? Speed was the main thing. He would have been carrying much more speed as it was only my 2nd lap in 14 months and probably his 14th in 2 hours! We reckon he was doing about 30-35 when he hit the first car (M3).
I wasn't hanging about though but i think the Kumho KU36's and 322mm brake upgrade i just had done definitely helped to reduce the distance. The Corvette had overtaken me earlier and had gone onto the grass at the slowest bend on the circuit.
In hindsight, i bet the M3 and Corvette drivers wish they had gone around the wreckage like so many before had but as you can see on the French video clip they had only a couple seconds to make that decision, if that.
Everybody walked away from the crash which was the main thing, but someone was taken by air ambulance to hospital with head / neck injuries.
On a lighter note-
I've had this car for 7 years now and it's looks never stop putting a smile on my face.
I just wish my garage was made of glass!

Yeh I reckon you're right, but the other way round it was really close to the body.
The handle does traditionally go the other way round and mine fits perfectly. From recollection, there's a recess in the bodywork that only came out with the 2004 mods; perhaps you have the earlier shape? Regardless; it's a lovely bit of machining and works fine either way!Gassing Station | Tamora, T350 & Sagaris | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
