Being a picky type of person, I wanted to see if I could do a removal digital HUD system for my Sagaris (Heads Up Display) for using it at night.

After investigating a number of options, I banged my head into a brink wall and said stop being stupid.

Getting onto the App Store, I downloaded a very nice HUD application (for free plus a digital theme for 68p), got some removal velcros pads and after plugging the iphone into the cigarette lighter, had a great digital HUD/navigation/camera warning system for my car.

Moral of the story - don't be an ass and think simple biggrin

Hi David

I got a couple to try...
- HUD Awesome
- aHUD+3d

Settled on HUD Awesome + a 68p theme.

Thanks!

I find the info fine on the dash (digital speed + bars display) - surely this is more of a distraction?

Last weekend I started looking at this idea again with some tweaks to an iPhone app and
was testing it out tonight.

Still needs some work. The main problem is the reflective nature of the glass which I think
I have solved now, also need a nice way to secure the phone without it getting in the way of
vision or leaving traces on the leather.

Once I've checked the necessary film stops the dual reflection and complies to the law with size
and positioning, then I'll post some more pics...

Looked at two main display formats...

...and...

Needs more work, but I'll persist until Pioneer get their projector version released and approved here.

I guess the dual reflection is due to the laminated windscreen ie two sheets of glass sandwiching a sheet of plastic.....

Correct. Hopefully it can be solved with a £2 strip I've ordered, but we'll see.

There are simple systems you can get like this...

...but not really to my taste.

Received the various pieces I was waiting for and after testing it, the new reflective strip works fine even in daylight, so once I fit it and have an anti-slip mat delivered, I'll close this project and post the final pics.

If anyone wants the details to reproduce the effort, let me know and I'll IM you the SW details plus other stuff you'll need.

Because it will be a bundle in a zip.

looks like a nice simple solution, I had a HUD on my M6 and loved the convenience of it and how it flipped to a tacho graphic (like your second design) when you hit the M button.

How accurate do you find the app & I'm assuming its subjective to the signal strength?

Seems to work fine in the tests done so far.

Not good with a signal dead area obviously, but that's expected.
