Speed sensor fuse blowing
Discussion
Alas a small snag has hit the tamora this afternoon. I washed the car and made it look all nice. Then we thought we would go for a drive before we put it away for the night. Unfortunately part way through the drive we went over a hump back bride (extremely steep) and very slowly. Immediately afterwards I noticed the speedo go down and stop working, a few lights around the dash also stopped as did the mirror adjusters. We drove on until we found a garage, about 1 mile, and then we pulled in. Obviously being new to owership I tried shutting everything down and restarting, but to no avail. We then got the manual out and I tracked down the fuse in question to take a look. Quick inspection and I saw it was blown. Then we went into the garage bought a pack of spares, and then tied a new fuse. Alas that also blew immediately. Any ideas anyone.
Happy to call the dealer tomorrow as I want to try and head to see my parents over the weekend. The good news is because we have an originb2 fitted, we could work out our speed by the readings it was giving.
thanks
Simon
PS If anyone gets put off by TVR ownership by this don't. Urban myth is all I can say about TVR ownership in my opinon. No better or worse than anyone else. Basically they ROCK!

My speed sensor started working intermittently and then completely gave up. Had it checked the other day and it was replaced - the unit was actually cracked...
If the unit can be damaged then perhaps this itself could cause a short and blow the fuse.... could be a wire/earthing point has been loosened and the hump may just be coincidence or the straw that broke the... etc

Well the chaps at the TVR Centre had a nice good look and it looks like its the speed sensor. Having seen where its placed on the car, it would not surprise me. Eitherway, its all replaced and working brilliantly. Yet another outstanding job in customer service by them.
