Picked up my T350C today drove to my brothers 1 1/2 hours no problems went for a run around weston-super-mare all ok. Went back to my brother turned engine off after about 2 mins a plume of smoke came out the engine bay(which smelt electrical),we both had a good look around could'nt find anything so started the engine and the lcd displayed code 245 power supply turned engine off and noticed the lcd display stayed on. Anyway decided to drive home 1 hour away all went well until 5 mins from home and car died no power, stupidy I got out to look under the bonnet and locked my self out of the car with my phone on the transmission tunnel, so I had no choice but to walk to my mums a couple of mins away and leave my car with my phone, jacket ect all on show to contact the AA.
After a short wait the AA came along and we jumped the car via battery(no anderson plug on AA van).
He checked and there was no charge to battery so I guess the alternator has failed or the 100amp fuse has blown, anyway we charged the battery for 15mins then started the car and I drove home.
T350C is now parked in my garage with the battery disconnected as the lcd display wont turn off.
Tomorrow I'll investigate ?
This is my 5th TVR and I never had a problem with any of them.
What a start to T350 ownership!

sorry to hear of your misfortune, the joys of tiv ownership. Was it a private sale or from a dealer.

Sorry to hear about the problems, especially as you have owned other tivs with no probs.

Hope you get her sorted without too much hassle or £££.

She will make you happy!

sorry to hear of your problem, just for furure reference the charge packs the AA carry usually have the anderson connector but it is at the charge pack end, should be able to ghange the ends over and use it to jump the TVR

It does sound like the magic 100A fuse melting down (and probably the fuse holder too). Order one now, including the holder, they're cheap. If it is intact then you have a spare.

A few people change the 100A fuse to a 125A (IIRC?) also to stop this happening.

Yes, I had mine changed to 125A and also the position moved to the inner wing, so if it does blow it is 2 minutes to change and no dirty hands!

Could be the diode pack on the alternator gone tits up, I would start with the fuse. If you apply the foot brake with the key out the display might go off (mine did when I had an issue with the alternator)

Don't be disheartened on the T350 though, my first TVR was a T350C and it was absolutely brilliant, mechanically no problems and loved it to bits. Once everything's sorted enjoy!

Yes, Jason did this to my car too. No issues over three years.

Fuse is DEFINITELY ok? Have no intention of winding you up but I understand they can get micro-fractures and look ok etc. but cause all sorts of heartache. Have you put a new one in anyway?

Someone else will be along to help you with alternators. I believe you need a Land Rover part and an extra diode or something; there's been several posts on the subject.

Keep smiling, once all is well with the world, the experience is amazing!

To the OP:

Had to smile (not at your misfortune of course).
I've had mine 5 weeks so far (first TVR) and to date I've had 3 garage visits, 2 AA call outs and about £1,200 spent. (As well as the £1200 warranty I have bought since then).

But I have to tell you, the smile it puts on my face every time I get in it, or even look at it out the window is worth every penny.

It is simply not right, and it surely speaks volumes about the state of my life, that an inanimate object makes me so happy!!

Once the engine is firing out 350bhp again, and the suspension is sorted I expect I'll be smiling even more!
