Tyres question
Discussion
I've spoken to guys at Camskills, ATS and a local tyre specialist and I'm getting conflicting advice on this:
I've got the original Goodyear Eagle F1's on the front of my Sagaris (the aggressive looking pattern ones) but unfortunately they need replacing pretty soon. I've got good Goodyear Asymetric's on the back (Asy's not Asy 2's) with 6mm on them. The Asy 2's come highly recommended but my concern is that there is a difference in the pattern which all the tyre companies say is fine as long as matching ones are on the same axle. On reflection, I want the exact same tyre pattern all around so I've ordered the Asy's (they were cheaper than the Asy 2's too, just £161 a piece from Oponeo, with free delivery). The conflicting info is in where I should be putting the new ones, front or back? Some professionals are saying on the back as that's where the power (and therefore grip) is being transferred, others are saying on the front to secure better grip in the wet. The torque at the rear is gonna scrub the new ones quicker anyway obviously, so tread depth will be evened out pretty quickly, I just want to know what's the best arrangement to start them with. What's the concensus on here please?

I'm no expert but in that situation I would definitely put the new ones on the back. Better traction where the power is and evens out the wear.
I would say the advice is correct about better wet grip with the new ones at the front since the deeper tread will disperse greater volume of water plus less traction at older rears means you won't be able to use so much power in the wet.
So I guess it's down to your priorities.
