Picking up a new battery for the Tam on Friday from RG and planning to fit it at the weekend.......... For someone who's enjoyment comes from driving the beast and not poking around under the bonnet etc...... is there anything I should be prepared for when I attempt this amazing feat..... ?! Any help/ advice would be very welcome re fixing it in/ alarm/ immobiliser etc

Cheers

Hi Shaun

To remove:

Earth disconnected 1st then live

Reconnect:

Live 1st then Earth.

You need to spray the 1/2" 13mm bolt just at the back of the Anderson jump start connector with WD40 or equiv. They can get a bit tight so penetrating oil always helps:

Also look at the Anderson connector and make sure that the connector lugs are clean and clear of corrosion and if you haven't get a Anderson connector plug cover to protect the plug against the elements as YOU WILL regret it if you ever come to jump the car with the Anderson & you haven't!!

I replaced mine as the connector terminals were pretty corroded.

I would also pack the top of the anderson connector terminals with silicone. If it cracks there is less chance the terminals can short out that way or get water in them.

Not trying to teach you to suck any eggs, but you are aware that the battery isn't under the bonnet but is behind the o/s/f wheel?
