Just changed from 16 inch Spiders to 18's and whoa what a difference.

The 18's look fantastic, but the ride! is going to get some used to!

One question though. What is the optimum offset for the front wheels? I am getting a little rubbing on full lock, and wanted to know if adding spacers should help? Is this normal on a Tamora?

Cheers

The front and rear wheels are a different offset - maybe you have 4 rear wheels? I don't know the figures, but the 'dish' by the wheel bolts looks different if you scan your eyes across the two different wheels, so you will know whether you have 4 of the same or not.

The offsets are cast into the wheel on the inside, I would look and see if you have the correct offsets front and rear. You should not get any rubbing.

16" wheels are a better option for track use and precise steering. Every time I swap mine over I keep saying to myself I should leave the 16" ones on! I would if they were anthracite and not silver.

Thanks for the info guys.

I deffo have 2x "front" 18 inch wheels and 2x "rear" 18 inch wheels, as they have clear identification on the rear of the casting.

Could this mean then that there is more than 1 offset available for the fronts?

Would wheel spacers help (on the front) to stop the rubbing.? - or did the early Tamora's have a different steering setup to the later models?

Cheers

Hi. No idea what the offsets should be for a Tam. Won;t TVR Power or Str8six or TrackVRoad know ?? Alos, perhaps you need the bump steer mod aswell. It was cetainly required on Tuscans and T350s. Tuscans also required 3mm spacers iirc to make it more compiant.

If it rubs on the headlight covers, make sure they are fitted the correct way up (bulge to the top). You can always replace the covers like Graham has in the Sag bible if this still does not work to give more clearance.

On my previous Tuscan when I changed from 16 to 18 inch wheels lock stops were fitted to the steering rack to prevent rubbing of wheel arches on full lock maybe the same is necessary on the Tamora.
