The engine has to come out, so thought it would be a good time to have a tidy up in there.

What do you guys recommend to do??

So far I have the following:
- Polish oil tank, swirl pot and expansion tank. possibly the oil cooler
- polish or replace metal coolant pipe that runs in front of the engine (attached to the head with bracket)
- powder coat fuel rail (black or red)
- powder coat chain cover (black or red)
Or change the colour of the head and match the chain cover. Suggestions please smile

How about...

Blue silicon piping
Custom colour coded cam cover
Metal braid coolant pipes (see Clivef's post)
Aluminium water container (see LeeT350s post)

Thanks

I did think about custom colour coding, but the car is spectraflair silver: ££££...

The braided pipes would be good. I must have missed that thread.

Lee's washer fluid tank I'll do when I've got her back. That's easy enough to do.

Silicon hoses would also be good.

Thanks!

Except for the additional bits, all under warranty! I feel sorry for Jason...

Jason does a stainless PAS bracket - looks lovely. ACT carbon airbox also is rather attractive.

(Any excuse)

@Don
the price for the bracket is also very "lovely" - ouch...

Does look good indeed, but the carbon airbox doesn't fit the budget at the moment frown

Speed six clean up - used to look great though it had less than 1K miles on it when I took this.

It now looks like this - same engine bay but that is about it. The PAS bracket is worth the money, a really nice bit of work

Hey guys, it's all very well but driving with the bonnet up showing off all that bling just makes things that much tougher. The lid's there for a reason isn't it?

Anyone for polishing that diff?

I'm only jealous rolleyes

Yes, mine is getting a bit of engine bling added to it as well. Although, saving the custom carbon air box for next year now.

I thought all TVRs spent their time with the bonnet up for other reasons? Therefore it makes sense for it to sparkle... Besides, we wouldn't want the AA mans hands to get dirty.

Update: Engine can be scrapped frown

Liners have dropped and are cracked, piston chipped, worn valve guides, ....

So, Jason has given me the following options
- repair/rebuild under warranty using good 'used' parts
- go for the 4.3 with all new parts, obviously at a cost

What to do confused

Jason has new blocks (with mods ?) available doesn't he ? And new heads too ??
Completely new engine then me thinks.... 4.3... why not ??? 5yr unlimited mileage warranty offered ??

Did you ask him about some of the mods he's done for his racing engine like cross-bolting etc. ?

Not much change out of £10k tho I bet, if you can/want to afford it !

I'm really sorry to hear that, but well done to Jason for honouring his warranty.

What is the cost (and time) difference between the rebuild and the 4.3? Have you had the car a long time / are you used to the Speed Six?

Personally, I'd go the extra mile and get the 4.3... but really only you can answer that. Have you been in/tried a 4.3?

Absolutely agree. Jason's 4.3 engine is a fantastic piece of kit and well worth the money.

Ran it all day at Brands Hatch yesterday and it didn't miss a beat.

I seem to repeat myself but: Ouch!

On the TVR power website an upgrade from 4.0 to 4.3 is around 7000£... Not sure if it would cost you this much but it's probably still quite a lot. Especially since you only have got the Sag with the 4l for such a short period; to make another big financial sacrifice must be difficult... But I also see the opportunity. Must be really hard. :-)

If you can make a good deal for the 4.3 why not try to make one for the 4.5? ;-)
Or is that completely out of the question?
