Power steering gremlin
Discussion
My power steering stopped working last weekend just as I was putting it in the garage. First chance I've had to look at it was this morning but when I started the car up it's all working fne again.
I have the Saagaris bible so have checked No 36 fuse on the main board and checked the relay is securely home and all seems well. Is there anything else likely to have caused it or should I just put it down to the nature of TVR?

80A strip fuse in the battery box. If the relay is failing this may be the reason the problem has gone away. I would get a new relay, even if you keep it as a spare.I have the Saagaris bible so have checked No 36 fuse on the main board and checked the relay is securely home and all seems well. If its the same as the T350, the main fuse (in battery compartment) could have a crack in it or the relay could be on its way out.
I have moved my fuse onto the inner wing for ease of access and bought a Renault higher amp relay to replace the existing (will get part number later)
Cheers. Lee.

Its part no. 8200253922 about £25. Don't muller the grey casing as you need to fit the relay in this waterproof housing. I have moved my fuse onto the inner wing for ease of access and bought a Renault higher amp relay to replace the existing (will get part number later)

As it was fine I decided to go for a short drive and a walk, power steering all good for about a mile and then heavy again with no improvement so drove to my parents house to get a circuit tester. Whilst there I took the relay off and went round some parts places in my dad's car. Nowhere has stock and can't get one until wdnesday whcih is cutting tbhings fine for Chatsworth if it doesn't work. The relay wa sout for a few hours, I cleaned some grease out that seems to have been put around edges to seal it from water ingress. I refitted it and drove home with complete power to the steering so I'm thinking it must really be the relay.
At home I've accessed the battery and checked everything and all seems fine there but go to put car in the garage and no power steering again!
Time to find a relay methinks.
Thanks for the help and alternative parts above.

Man up! when mine went I was told to drive it without the PS working. So long as you don't need to park it in any tight spaces too often its not actually that bad. Gives your arms a good work out though. If you go to Pug or Renault they should be able to get them next day or even a breakers yard should have them as they were std fit on pug cars/light vans.At home I've accessed the battery and checked everything and all seems fine there but go to put car in the garage and no power steering again!

Thanks Shep, I know it's driveable but not so good if you want to be 'spirited' and becomes a real handful o nbumpy roads. I picked up a new relay today and it's no different. Was working fine again when I got it out of the garage, fitted the new relay anyway, drove for 30 mins and it went again.
Gonna try and get it into Sussex TVR before this weeknd at Chatsworth!

Could be the pump then. flee bay again £100 std fitment on pug 106/saxo cars. Don't pay sillier dealer prices £300+ fitting, plenty genuine new pumps out there for 1/3rd of that. Try checking the connection on the other side of the relay to the pump for water ingress. prise the red tab up and the connection to the pump should separate easy enough. Gonna try and get it into Sussex TVR before this weeknd at Chatsworth!
