Unleaded or super unleaded
Discussion
It's mixed reports I heard every 2-3 tank fulls have v power, cant beleive how many people use supermarket fuel as they think its better due to the higher octane. I'd use bog standard shell fuel anytime over supermarket stuff. They had a stand at the motorshow years ago where a company like audi ran an 2 engines, one on shell and one on supermarket fuel for 1000's of miles. They had small cameras inside them some you could compare them agaist each other.
In what way is it not good for the engine ? Only ask as I'd be interested to know. Having tried it in the Tam, there was no noticeable performance benefit either unless you're into the odd half a second here or there. I think I shall stick to it for the time being personally.
Edited to say There was a previous post saying its bad for your engine but its gone

I'm sorry, but you can't leave a story half told! Or am I the only one that doesn't know!
I'm never sure where confidentiality ends?! Make up your own story using the following phrases:Dom's Sagaris---a motoring magazine with a one word title that really ought to know better---95 Octane fuel---"never quite the same again".

because it'd take ages to explain, here is the link to the relevant wikipedia article:

pinging is the most likely damage, however, it generally puts more stress on engine components than needed.. for a few pounds here and there why take the risk?

Also this thread shows on a rolling road the difference between unleaded and super unleaded. (Warning, Power Vs SRR figures within!

)Where ever possible I have always filled up with Shell Vmax. It's a habit I've got into since my previous car was re-mapped. And now moving onto this car, I saw no reason to change. I only asked the question because if everyone put in 95 Ron and said it doesn't make a hapeth of difference. I would have done the same.
