I understand the over estimations that TVR made regarding the V8 engines in the Griffith and Chimp, but how far did they over estimate the S6?

For instance the 3.6 is rated at 350BHP and 290lb/ft, but what is normal in the real world???

Similarly , what does the 4.0 make?

My standard 3.6 T350 actually made 360bhp and 280 ft lbs of torque.

My standard 3.6 Tamora made 353bhp and 250 ft lbs of torque. Both measured at the fly wheel.

I think the speed six power out puts were pretty accurate in my experience.

3.6litres seems to be pretty close 330-360 and 4.0litres seem to be a tad lower than the stated 406. They seem to be between 350-380 but max rpms that people dyno them too seems to be different. Alot seem to be below 7k rpm

Had our TVRCC Netherlands rolling road event yesterday - 2 out of 2 S6es that turned up were actually over factory stated bhp at 36x and 373 hp (PS-DIN) IIRC with the other at around 330; for reference a pair of 4.5 Cerbs made 368 and 382, a 4.0 HC Chim at 232, an unusually strong 500 Chim at 278.5 (at the last event none of the std 500s made over 250); a local performance rebuild of a Griff 500 made 324, a Honda S2000 243.5 and my own rebuilt/upgraded 430 Chim was spot on compared to the RR result of where it was mapped last year at 275 with pretty much identical power/torque curves (somehow the consistency between the two is quite reassuring smile ).

A very strong result for the S6 I'd say, while the 4.5 AJPs were pretty good also (especially as the AFR graphs clearly showed both still ran the dreadful OE fuel maps). thumbup

This thread shows outputs of modified and standard S6 engines - my Sag was run on SRR at 369.
