Hi Guys, dont post very often but need some advice!
When the Tamora is fully warmed up a metallic sound can be heard from the engine when i lift off at higher speeds, she's done just over 30k on 2003 plate.
I think its going to be an engine mount???? Any thoughts advice of what else it cound be?
Thanks
Ian

Possibly a lower engine mount, I have similar at the moment on my T350 and I know this is the cause, the bottom of the engine just vibrating on the stuff below. Will be replaced as part of my service next month.
TBH I treat engine mounts as 12k service items anyway.

That's relevant to an unusual noise I have heard on occasion that was worrying me.

It happens not on lift off, but on high power and higher revs. Doesn't happen every time, but a metallic rattling noise comes from the engine somewhere. The noise didn't sound as if it was closely related to revs.

My thoughts were maybe something in the exhaust, but it sounds like engine mounts are worth checking.

Thanks for the replies so far, another question, how can you tell if a mount is broken?

Definitely from the engine? I had an exhaust hanger/heatshield interface that was a bit like that. When you're enveloped by the noise, I couldn't tell which end it came from!

Yes, it comes through the dashboard, just when I lift, can't here anything under hard acceleration, I'm off to Power tomorrow see what the guru of the spd6 engine says.

What news on the metallic rattle? I may well end up going to Power as well with mine.

Under the sump worked for me. Dont forget removing the drivers side mount helps with getting enough space to get the exhaust side in, then refit the drivers side. Also airbox out helps loads with access to drivers side and juggle engine up and to the drivers side when fitting exhaust side. PS if the engine mount studs are long shortening them to length needed for the chassis also helps loads , just dont take too much off and remember to keep the nuts on or you'll likely need a die to recut the threads

Not a lot left, just fell apart!! when i removed the nuts.
It took me five minutes to remove and four hours to re-fit, now i've done one probably an hour to re-fit next time
Thanks for the tips & advice
