I was reading an old EVO mag and came across this in the advert section in the back.

http://www.cg-lock.co.uk/cg-lock/will-it-fit-my-ve...

Now, I have slight back problem so get quite tired with the unsupportive seat in the T350. I normally just lift the seat pad and use it as a back rest and this works a treat.

However, I reckon a cg-lock would work better with the normal seat position. This basically clamps the belt around the hip to prevent you slipping as you drive. If no good then I will stick with the seat pad in back rest position.

Questions:
1) clearly this is compromised for the Chim and Griff per the link but does this work for the T350? I'm off my feet at the momeent due to injury so cannot get to my garage to inspect the type of seat belt buckle. Does someone check what type of buckle the T350 has? I suspect the same as Chim and Griff.

2) has anyone used this for T350? I know the owner Cglock is a forum member but rather try this forum first.

3) I did a search and see that there are a few on PH who already use this. There must be a group forum discount set up. Is there a standard discount code? Again I can ask Cg-lock failing this.

The seatbelts in the T350 were made by Davisafe so I assume they used the same in the Chims and Griffs.

Thanks for the quick replies. I think I will go with the standard CGlock. It looks pretty straight forward to install.

Lestershaw, how long have you been using your one? Did you buy it with a forum discount? Just wondering whether there was one. If not, no worries, I'm not going to follow up any further since we're not talking big bucks.

Cheers

Hi frank, had mine a year. No not a group buy, think it was £50'from eBay but I can't remember, sorry. It's not ideal but it does stop you sliding about a bit, but you have to pull it pretty tight, I'm just used to it now

I'm going to get it from CG-lock directly. £48 plus P&P so more or less the same price.

I figured it will have to be pretty tight. The seats are pretty slippery. I know it doesn't look anything like the Lambo Countach one's but sometimes I feel like I'm sitting in one of these - the way you always slide forward onto your lower back.

I used one in a particularly unsupportive Fiesta when I had back problems. Think it helped a bit.

I know exactly what you mean. The T350 seats really do look good but are bloody useless in terms of comfort and support. I often feel I'm having to pull myself back up in the seat...

I found it close to useless in the Sagaris so that is why i fitted the harnesses and bar. From what I have heard about them though they must be better than my experience.

OK, I have now purchased the CG-Lock and can confirm that it definitely does not fit a T350. The "tongue" or "lip" (whatever you call it) which the lock hooks on to is perpendicular to the catch but facing towards the central tunnel. There is insufficient gap between the seat belt buckle and the tunnel to fit the lock.

Here you can see how the tongue of the seat belt buckle faces towards the tunnel. the CG-lock would need about 3 inch gap to fit.

I guess I'll keep it for my next car on the hope that it will fit that unless I can find someone to take if off my hands. It would have been perfect on my last car, the MR2 for track use. In that, I had to brace with my knee against the center console which ended up very bruised by the end of track session.

That's a shame, have got them on the Griff & although not as good as a harness, much much improved over the std TVR inertia reel system. Got them from here;

http://www.gerald-simonds.co.uk/

A few quid cheaper plus free p&p.

They do fit the T350, I have one on mine.

You have to fit it 'backwards' - there's a guide somewhere from someone who installed one in a Chim if you Google it.

Hi Matt, can you show a photo of how your one fits. The link I followed was from Lestershaw which is in one of the earlier posts. In his one, the buckle bracket has the tongue vertical (i.e. in line) with the buckle. In my one, the tongue is horizontal.

Cheers, so potentially there is still hope for me..

No not at all. I really appreciate the link. I was aware you had a Chim and I was gambling that the belts would be the same as on a T350. But I just felt really stupid when I went to fit it and went "Doh!" there's this big central tunnel in the way. No, it's my fault for not having spotted the perpendicular tongue on my buckle bracket.

how do you clamp the tongue/lip? Although it is perpendicular to the buckle, do you still clamp it in-line but with less grip? (if you know what i mean)

That's a full £10 cheaper than where I got mine in the end. the website said you could only buy at their price with a forum discount, otherwise it directs you to its on-line retailers. The one recommended for my area charged £5 for delivery and then charges 20% VAT on top of that. Not sure that is quite right. Normally when you buy on line stuff you get charged cost plus VAT and then P&P afterwards. But for the sake of £1, I couldn't be bothered to complain.

hhhmmm! I wonder whether you have the same type of buckle as Lestershaw and maybe TVR used a different supplier at some point in time. I'll wait to see what you say first.
