Hi all,
I am looking to do the following to my Sag:
1) New stereo - Must have:
Big fold out screen
Excellent European Sat Nav
I pod connection
Is there any recommendation’s for the best one to go for?
2) New diff - Probably will go for a 3.73 - Anybody know of one for sale? -> None on the classifieds or ebay
Is there a massive difference between the above and the 3.9 plus the CR gearbox?
3) Geo set up and corner weighting - Can anyone recommend a good place in the Bristol area?
4) Re-seal the rear lights as they have a small amount of condensation in them. Where do i get the black stuff from?
5) New exhaust as I don't like the blue flame ones that are on it. Options are either return to standard or get something new. I don't like the racing green ones.
Ok no more questions, but i would appreciate some opinions. Cheers!

I put a Clarion NZ501 in mine. I am looking to do the following to my Sag:

It was a squeeze to say the least, with some minor modification necessary, (removal of all unnecessary wires and a couple of extra holes in the rear of the stereo hole).
Overall it is very capable.
Sat Nav works well, but doesn't seem to have a function to give me a normal north pointing map with the car in the centre... Only 3D. Or 2D pointing up withthe map rotating. (It must be possible though!!)
TV if you buy the extra bits (I didn't bother)
DVD player (why???)
Ipod connection (I have Android)
USB connector (but it always starts at A, and you have to scroll through which is so awkward I stopped using this function)
Standard audio lead (probably the best option)
Bluetooth streaming audio (great, works perfectly but runs the phone battery down unless its plugged in)
Bluetooth car kit (works great, but tbh, my car is too noisey over 3,000 rpm)
It was a bargain though. I bought it for about £650 if I recall correctly from Amazon (new).
On balance, maybe I should have opted for an Alpine or Kenwood, but you're looking at double the money at the very least.
PS It has a speed camera database too. :-)
I have an alpine media station, it was fitted by the previous owner, and must have been a nightmare to get it in the space, I took it out once and it took me and my son , with small girlie hands, all ay to get it back in
excellent bit of kit though, dvd, usb,cd,radio, bluetooth, sat nav(which is excellent) and wireless head phones, but never used them
have a chat with Carl Baker, he can supply and fit most makes I think.

The rear light clusters are a tricky one and I would tread carefully. The rear lenses are not the easiest to get out (or put back in). Personally I think the condensation is really a result of the bulb housing seals on the other side as most are sponge sealed that I've seen. Did have mine done but the condensation did come back. V frustrating!
I have the alpine fold out unit, it is fantastic and miles better than the pioneer thing I had before - not cheep at about 1k for the unit, Bluetooth (excellent) and the sat-nav also excellent!

As others have said it is a pain in the balls to fit, there are allot of cables that need to be sorted - figure on a weekend to fit the dam thing. I would also look at upgrading your speakers as the OEM ones are whack........I have a small flat pioneer sub woofer behind the pax seat that is great.
Diff, I have not driven a car with the CR and 3.9, but you had a pax ride in my car with the 4.0 sp6 and 3.73 (Scouse Dave's before Riga) it worked for me without the expense of the CR gear box. You are more than welcome to come up to my gaff for a weekend to change out the diff on the new Ramp! It is also worth doing the diff bushes while you have the diff out.
The rear lights, this by all accounts is a tough job - mine have always misted up and I haven't bothered to fix as it’s a pain to do. Firstly you will be doing well to remove the lenses without breaking them. (Find some-one with spares in stock before starting!) The black stuff is typically sikaflex there are different grades and I can't remember which one to use for the lights - if you PH search for replacing the rear 1/4 lights or headlights it’s the same stuff. sikaflex can be bought on-line or from boat chandlers - I will have a look next time I'm back as I might have some in the garage.

If the navigation part is important for you, I would recommmend the Kenwood KVT-526DVD together with the external Navigation Module KNA-620T ( it's named KNA-G290T as a package).
Why ? The Module itself is from Garmin and runs the Garmin navigation software. You can use all the standard Garmin Maps with an update rhythm of 4 times a year. Therefore you don't have any problems with map data updates for the next years.

Ok I have found a 3.73 diff, but I have also found a 3.9 diff and a CR gearbox. Both for reasonable money.
Opinions of which way to go......
Sorry, newbie question...Opinions of which way to go......
Presumably the diff change will give you higher revs in each gear?
Are there any other benefits?
Also, what is the CR gearbox?

Hi mate, look on Wikip for Wide ratio and Close ratio gear boxes. That will explain the Presumably the diff change will give you higher revs in each gear?

difference. Or search for close v wide ratio in Google

Thanks!

Do a search on here, there are lots of threads on this subject.Presumably the diff change will give you higher revs in each gear?

CR gearbox = different ratios for 1st, 2nd, 3rd with 4th and 5th being the standard ratios. Coupling a CR gearbox with (I think) a 3.73 diff ratio will just allow 60 in 1st gear and 100mph in second gear.

So is it 3.73 plus cr box, 3.73 plus std box or 3.9 plus cr box?
Depends how you want to change the character of your car. I have a T350 3.6 with a standard gearbox and the 3.91 final drive. For me it works brilliantly, the increase in revs at a motorway cruise is not really noticeable any more and touring economy is still 26-27mpg. It brings added vim and mojo to how the car drives in give and take A/B road traffic though, which is what I wanted.rhyspw said:

From a cost perspective, then straight to the 3.91 diff might be the best option.Sags and Tuscan 4.0S were supposed to leave factory with CR box and 3.73 diff, so if money allows, perhaps that's the best overall solution.

CR - Yes, fair enough. Dunce's hat duely put on. difference. Or search for close v wide ratio in Google

I'm fully aware of what a close ratio box is, just assumed CR was a brand.
TBH, I don't feel the need to change the ratios in mine.
I have a pioneer system installed (previous owner) and its not bad, good sat nav - pop out screen, ipod connection. Also the car has a 4.3litre engine upgraded at str8six, resprayed white flip flop by surface abd design, 3.91 diff and cr box. The car is on 19" jade R alloys, I had so much fun in the car I cant really say the 3.93 made a big diff as i changed in 2008/9 and then overseas for nearly a year so could not remember all the car was like prior, but i just smile all the time i drive her, she is better now as the engine upgrade is lovely, but still running in at the moment, but im overseas again and she is stored, but she will be on roads again soon. i was at le mans and after drove to my house in SW France and great drive back to UK

Where have you got the mic for the KCE-400BT? I'd thought it would have been so bl**dy noisy inside the Tiv, you'd definitely say worthwhile?http://www.alpine.uk.com/p/Products/mobile-media-s...
