Looking to buy a Tamora, I have been offered a 12 month warrenty for £750, it has all the normal inclusions/exclusions that you would expect for a used car warrenty, has max pay out of £2000 per piece of work. Does anyone have any experience? Should I bite his arm off for it or back away?

Considering I was quoted £700 for 3 months. Which I hasten to add, I did not take up the offer. The figure of £750 for 12 months seems by comparison, exceptionally good value. Providing what you are being offered is genuine. You would be mad not to take it.

Why not get the car inspected by one of the specialists first. You could then take out the AA breakdown cover with parts and garage cover.

In my experience warranty companies spend most of their time trying to get out of paying for repairs. I have found the AA very good, with no problems come payment time. You can have 5 x £500 claims per year.

I don't know what your budget is but if you are looking at the lower end of the scale I would be getting it inspected by a reputable dealer instead of paying for a warranty. If you are looking at the top end of the market I would negotiate that the the car has a 12K service before you part with your money, the garage will then be able to give you a puch list of what should be done and when.

From a dealer you should be able to negotiate a 12 month warranty as part of the deal instead of the usual 3 months they have to give by law.
