Tamora running temperatures
Discussion
My Tamora runs in the 80's when moving according to the dash, but once it slows into traffic, it can run well over 100 again according to the dash.
Just had it running in the drive, with the ECU software running and the fans kicked in at normal temps (92 for the first one).
The temp still seemed to rise though , and the dash warned of 115 degrees, then water sensor error.
The ECU software never indicated higher than 110, which still seems way high.
Going to pull the rad and make sure it flowing ok, and have just ran it briefly with the filler cap off and water is flowing from the stat to the tank.
What sort of temps do people see ??????????

make sure there's shielding around the sides of the radiator. ive seen plenty of cars with gaps where hot air can recirculate to the front of the rad with the fans on, so instead of cold air pulled through the rad it's hot air pulled through .. the temp just keeps going up and up. something to check anyway especially as it seems ok on the road ..
I have a similar problem just now with mine Ant. Temp is around 88 or 89 on the move but when slow in traffic (30and under) the temp shoots up to around 100 and sometimes above - the max I have seen is around 108. Still makes for uncomfortable reading! Just had it out for a run and come back to check oil levels etc and realised that only one fan was on...temp reading was 105 while in the garage here. O/S fan hadn't switched on. Might be part of my problem, but don't think it could just be that?

Both my fans work but have just dicovered the coolant stat is buggered , only opens about 4-5 mm.It is also a 74deg stat.....

Only one fan working can result in the kind of temperatures you are seeing, clean the connections behind the radiator (2 of them)and see if it gets the second fan working, It should only take a few minutes to do.Jamieboy101 said:

Unplug the sensor under the air box, both fans should start by default. If only one fan starts, first swap the relays over on the fuse board then see if the other fan is the one that is running. If no joy have a look at the connector for the fan see if its corroded if it looks OK put 12 volts direct on to the fan see if it runs. Not a difficult job, more of a PITA as you have to keep looking till you trace the fault.
You could have a leak so the system is not pressurised, there might be an airlock somewhere (try bleeding the system) the sensor(s) might just be knacked (dash read out & ECU fan control are on 2 separate sensors) Stat might have seen better days also worth checking.

Cheers Buzz.
Can anyone comment on how much the temperature is reduced by decatting? Have heard this helps reduce under bonnet temps ... Dont see why it wouldn't. Just be interesting to find out if it's a big difference or a small one.
Its significant but its still toasty when static. Decats are better for aural pleasure! Can anyone comment on how much the temperature is reduced by decatting?
