I'm interested in the thoughts of other owners regarding servicing .
I bought my Tam at 12k miles and had a 6k service at power at 13k in June 2009.
I had a Full 12k service at power June 2010 at 16k miles
and 6k service at power June 2011 at 20k miles
So i feel i have done the right thing so far , hit the annual service , kept all receipts , asked for any issues to be looked at etc.
This year i had to cancel my service in June due to other commitments , Dom suggested i ran the car a bit longer and put a few more miles on it before the 12k service but with the poor weather and the fact that i can not use the car for work or ferrying family i still only have 24k miles on the car .
If i leave the service until i have done 6k and do the same next year i will probably have no service in 2013 , if i have it done in June next year it will have very few miles between services .
I could opt for a 12k now and a short 6k next year .
Car runs really well .
What do/would other owners do .
Its not a question of saving money its just what will look correct on history if i ever need to sell and what best for the car .

Some garages will do a 'low mileage/pre-winter/pre-summer' servic at a reduced price. Obviously not everything that's on a 6k or 12k will get done, but what needs doing will get doen - they're the experts after all remember.
Two things -
- a 6k service should come in at under £400 all in including vat, should there be no 'faults'.
- a 12k service main difference is simply chaning ALL fluids rather than just the engine oil.
Hope that helps

Should you get a stamp in the book for a low mileage service ?
I know several dealers will stamp the book but unless it's marked as not being a full service I think it's wrong.
While you, as the currrent owner, may keep all paperwork which will show the service wasn't completed to the 6k/12k schedule it's possible future owners won't.
Not a dig at anyone in particular, just that I've come across cars which have a fully stamped service book which haven't been fully serviced and I found it annoying.

It also begs the question as to what a service stamp really means to people. Mine hasn't been stamped for the last 3 services BUT I have a full and very comprehensive file full of receipts showing every piece of work carried out on the car and I'd like to think people weren't naive enough to look at the service book rather than the history file.
To the OP though, I'd far rather if I were a purchaser, see a basic service with a good look over the car than a long gap with nothing having been done.

I had a low mile's service carried out after having the car a year but asked them to take the rocker cover off to have a look in there as it was under its 12 mouth warranty (It had a 12k done before I picked it up)did 2000 mile's so due a 12k one this time but since march due to the weather and new little babe I have only done 700 miles this year (March to March) what to do this year?

Personally I've decided to get mine serviced on a mileage basis within reason (oil every couple of years) and just keep a good check on everything regularly.
Ditto.I had a low mileage 12k service done last May as I had only done 3000 miles since the 6k service the May before. I have only done 2500 miles since the 12k service so am going to wait until the spring (2013) to get the next service done, unless I do a lot of miles before winter.

I dunno but I'd think a child seat and a tiny pair of ear defenders should be high up there
Mrs 98 got them a t shirt with "my other car seat is in the TVR" there is a pic on here some were. And I think he will love the noise.
