New Toy - New Challenge!

Collected and enjoying a 2002 Tamora last few weeks, bit of a beast
- I still have and enjoy using my '93 400 Chimaera in the TVR Speed Championship and the Tamora may be "pressed-into-service" with TVRCC next year.
I've got around to changing the Tamora's oil - not a simple drain & refill !!
Having now removed the undertray, inlet air box & filter, should I warm the engine/oil up before changing? Worried that it may not be happy without airbox/temp sensor etc when running??
Or, can I continue with a cold engine (not run for a week) and expect most of the oil to drain away (sump & oil tank) over a day or so, if placed on stands with rear passengers side higher??
I hope the drain-down isn't like the Rover V8 which can't self-prime if drained more than a few hours and you have to remove the pump and pack with vaseline!
Please advise??
Taken me 9-years to take the plunge................why did I wait!!!
Cheers

When I did mine recently I drained and replaced some oil lines, and flushed the tank. You can siphon from the sump with some tubing.
Flusing the tank removed a fair bit of rubbish, along with clearing the top mesh filter on the inlet of the tank.
To get the oil pressure back up I filled the oil pump hose with oil and reattached to the tank, before refilling the tank. On the first start up took the fuel pump fuse out and waited till the oil pressure reading was right up. It only needed cranking for a couple of seconds to do this. This might be over kill but the engine wasnt spinning around at running speed with no oil pressure..

I never had that problem with the SEiGHT Westfield V8 You didn't after prime the system with the serpentine front cover I'm assuming yours is the early type front cover
As for the S6 warming the oil does help and I've done it on the Tam and also jacked the back end up to get the oil to one end the used a vaxuum pump to draw the oil out of the oil pan. I managed to get 9.25 litres out in total the last time so well chuffed I also drind the pipes but to be honest Idon't thing that mad much diffrence to the quantity but its all old out I guess
The pump is also useful for refilling the gearbox/diff saves all the fannying about with squeezy bottles and long pips that keep coming out of the fill holes!

the engine will run ok without the air temp sensor in place, I`d just let it run for 10 mins or so then drain as you described, unless you use it as a good excuse to go out for a drive first
refilling with regards to priming is no problem compared to the rv8`s.
Many thanks for the info - think I'll take your advice and warm it up.

Yup, pre-serp !! Thanks for the info, glad it won't need priming in a similar way! I'll have a look at Frost's, who I think have pumps.I never had that problem with the SEiGHT Westfield V8 You didn't after prime the system with the serpentine front cover I'm assuming yours is the early type front cover
