sorry to dissapoint, a bit of a wind up in the topic title, but I have been driving several lovely cars today curtesy of mrs f who bought me a drivers experience day at Dunsfold.I thought it would be an excellent chance to drive a few dream cars just to see if there could possibly be anything to replace the sag with, and out of 4 cars that I drove in the pouring rain there was one that I would have in a heartbeat if the money was falling out of my ears

so out of the 4 cars which one took my fancy I hear you ask, well 1st up was the Aston DB9, not my cup of tea at all to be honest, but if you want a long distance driving car then its probably perfect, its a tourer designed to do just that, but personally I dont like the interior, the tombstone style center console was ghastly, a very big car for what it is IMO.
2nd car up was the lambo gallardo, now this was very nice, a bit of a delay on the flappy paddle box when changing gear, but nicely finished interior very much like a TVR, but driving on a very wet track in heavy rain and being told to put your foot down out of a corner was a little concerning but when you realise how well it grips with fwd it was a joy to drive in the wet, so this one was on the I want one list.
3rd up was the fezza 360, was expecting a lot, but dissapointed tbh, ok you cant drive to any limits like you can in the dry, but it didn`t feel as grunty as the sag, interior was ok but nothing to make you get a stiffy over, perhaps a decent drive on a dry day would change my opinion so leave my judgement open on that one, its a car to be revved hard I think so would be unfair to put it down as a bad experience. On the other hand there was a very nice looking 480 there for fast passenger laps, the styling on that was very nice.
the 4th and last car was the Maclaren MP4-12C, now this is gorgeous, sue thought I`d taken a viagra when I saw it,

compared to lambo`s and ferrari`s this seems so small, but its a beautiful well packaged car, the paddles turn with the steering wheel unlike the previous cars, everything seems to be where you would want it, its really well thought out, and with 7 gears and 600bhp on tap its sublime, when you plant your right foot down the change in exhaust note is awesome, I wonder what it would be like with a decat?

So to summarise, the maclaren would be the only car that could replace the sagaris, but we are talking lottery wins so fat chance there

but what it shows for me is how good the sag really is, bhp, style and handling per £ its top value for money, there really is no comparrison when you consider what you can get for £50k, ok many will argue that you could have more fun in an Ariel Atom etc, but you`d have to be a hard core atom enthusiast to drive around europe with the other half with luggage and the inevitable downpour.

just got to out to the garage now and let her know that I have not betrayed her

Clive - YHM

Is that someone else perhaps missing their old cascade sag putting in an early bid ????
She's in safe hands and looking lovely, driving superbly btw Lee.
We must meet up for a pint sometime.
Clive - glad to hear you've come to your senses ! Would have been interesting if you had had the Sag with you to directly compare in the same conditions !

with r888`s on the sag in 1/2" standing water on most of the track I`d have been miss daisyEdited by RedSpike66 on Friday 19th October 21:30

one of the instrucors told me they used to have a sag there, but it wasn`t user friendly enough for inexperienced people, a case of ending up facing the wrong way a lot!

you are a lucky man, make sure you give me a good passenger ride in the dry if you get one
I am pretty sure I will, it seems a great all round car which I can use often. I am not sure if I will have one over here in the USA or the UK though. I am sure you will come over here and have ago though
