Tamora spoiler 'black bits'
Discussion
Apologies for my highly technical thread title but I am considering copying some of the Tams I've seen pictures of which have two black painted portions on each side on the bottom inch of the front spoiler. Was this a factory paint job or something done afterwards? It seems to be on later models and on yellow and red cars. I'm having the spoiler painted anyway and like the look of this.

Andy that looks like it runs the full length of the spoiler lip. The one on my red Tamora comes as far as the rad mouth air in take that's what I think Lee's talking about. it looks an easy job to do DIY tbh.

Mine is the same as the above photo, but Brendan will be respraying it to match your description - currently mine is painted in what appears to be black Hammerite, at least that's what i've been repainting it with Regards

The idea of the black lip was if you kurb, bottom out or otherwise damage your Tamora front spolier area, it's easy to just paint repair the black bit, rather than the front end of the car (in whatever it's body colour is, to match - ie you're painting less area to repair and to a defined line, rather than blending).
The early cars like Shep101 have the whole front lower bit painted black (plus the very early cars also have the area around the bonnet vents, in case engine heat damages the paint in these areas). The 2003 onwards cars should look like this:-

with just the edges done.
However, it's common to paint the front ends to hide stonechips, which is why some Tamoras now have no black or too much black. Also TVR being a bespoke car, it was possible to have the black areas body colour coded from new.

Thanks for the replies, the red Tam is exactly what I was talking about, interesting feedback on the history of the paint scheme. I personally like the black bits, breaks up the front end with some nice detail. I'm getting quotes for a repaint of the bottom lip now, £200 so far, the paint is £125 per half litre

I paid £250 for a 1/4 litre of the Chameleon Blue paint to spray my seat backs earlier this year
