4.3 owners - mpg?
Discussion
Just wandering what other Power 4.3 owners are seeing mpg wise? Prior to my rebuild as a 3.6 I'd see 22-24 for a mix of hoon and easy.
Now I barely see 18mpg taking it easy, dropping to 15 when pressing on which is a PITA with such a small fuel tank, refills are now every 150 miles rather than 180-200. Happy if this is normal but obviously it is a drop of about 25% and not exactly cheap in this day and age, especially if it should be higher.

I've been watching mine for ages, (its often a sign of something being wrong with an engine when mpg drops - sometimes its easier to spot than a drop in power, because you're rarely using maximum attack on the road).
Mine is a standard 3.6.
On a long motorway journey, around the legal maximum I have once seen 28mpg, however, its normally around 24-26.
For town driving, it is between 15 and 19 depending on the state of the traffic.
This equates to around 160 miles to a tank around town, and a maximum of 260 miles of motorway driving.
Liek the rest of you, I think its a PITA having to stop so often, especially with the stupid filler on the T350...
Interestingly, Don1 with his RG, FFF, Syvecs, etc has said on another post that he's getting low to mid 30's mpg now. Likewise the RG demonstrator is normally seeing over 300 miles to a tank on longish journeys - but bear in mind that gets driven by people who want to see how fast it is too.
Don, if you're reading, can you confirm any more details on real world driving?
I'm planning a rebuild for a bit more oomph soon, but the thought of spending even more time and money in petrol stations doesn't exactly motivate me...

I normally don't look at that kind of thing, but during the summer a few spirited drives, a rush-hour motorway trip (M25), some pottering around (shopping, dropping son off etc) yielded around a 24.5 figure. No idea what it would be if I was trying to save hydrocarbons...Don, if you're reading, can you confirm any more details on real world driving?
(Sorry Zippee for the thread tangent!)
