Is it possible to "clock" a Tamora? / Target Cars.EU
Discussion
Hi All
I am wondering if it is possible to clock a Tamora in terms of mileage?
I ask this specifically about this car
http://www.target-cars.eu/cars/passenger-cars/tvr-...
which looks it could be a decent purchase but the interior is showing quite a bit of wear that suggests that it has more use than its 31K showing. Im NOT suggesting that Target Cars would have clocked the car but is it possible? If thats not the explanation do Tamora interiors wear faster than normal. I had a Chim which has 70K on the clock and was no wear near this worn!
Any comments would be appreciated as well as any history on this car anyone might have!

For the Tamora, TVR started using Bison instead of ambla, imitation leather. They only used it for a short while because it wears out so quickly. So the car probably has not been clocked, as they appear to have service history to support the mileage, just has the Bison interior.
That was my thought as well. Having seen a (then) 3 year old T350 with genuine 9500 on the clock and bison interior looking like it had been totally worn and abused I made sure to get a car with the full leather - personally I wouldn't touch the bison.Barry Ashcroft said:
Overall the car looks in very poor condition, could they not even be bothered to wash it, mould around windscreen horrendous engine bay.
Deffinatley bison even new it looked crap
I was there once, and if I understood correctly they do not wash, clean or service any of their cars. It is not really a car dealer, more of a trading company. Buy and sell, no warranties, no ideas about the car histories. The good thing about it is that they do not cover up by making a car look stunningly clean while in fact there might be hidden flaws, but be sure to get an expert view before buying there because there seem to be a significant number of Cat C&D cars there.Deffinatley bison even new it looked crap

Yes the mileage can be changed quite easily
I would have to challenge this. Excepting the possibility of installing new clocks with fewer miles recorded (which for the sake of argument isn't proper clocking), then to change the mileage in the dash you have to install a fresh EPROM chip, which you would then need to run up to the desired miles from scratch. In essence, all of the cumulative miles are stored permanently. Clearly anyone determined enough will manage to do this but it's actually a lot more difficult than on most mainstream cars where with the right software you can go in and over write any mileage you want. brogenville said:

You can have it done for £80 or buy the equipment for about £200. I know 2 places that will do the dash ecu "correction" in the UK. When I was looking to buy a second hand dash ECU I wanted to make sure it could be corrected and it can. Fortunately my dash ecu was ok it was the pod that had the fault.Edited by Getsis on Sunday 25th November 09:16
my old Tam interior was gone after only 11k, that bison was so crappy and mine had been left out in sun with roof off.I was told that its was really quite hard to clock any of the T cars.I suppose anything is possible but if it didnt have a history to match the miles walk away anyway.
You definitely can clock them. Had a new dash unit recently because mine had forgotten to store the mileage and was reading 00000. They were told what the mileage should be and they set it to that. We were honest but I could have told them anything. It was sent away for this service so not sure how easy it is.

It isn't worth clocking a Tamora, you'd never get away with it - there are so few in existence that any car's provenance can be traced with a bit of effort (either through forums or calling around dealers/indies).
My thoughts to - a few phone calls was all it took the get the entire service history of my Cerbera along with mileages etc. Gassing Station | Tamora, T350 & Sagaris | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
