Hi all, after an unexpected £2500 bill the week before Christmas (see blog) I've just gone to use the car and the new brake disks are stuck! When this has happened before they normally unstick as I start to pull away but not this time! Left the car running for twn minutes or so but still no joy.
Has anyone got any nifty advice to unstick them please? Maybe spray with warm water or even WD40?
Cheers....

I usually find if my brakes are stuck when I drive off and it makes a cluck/bang but they always release. I certainly wouldn't spray them with oil or anything relating to oil, that is a no no.
If they won't release by just driving off, then I would tap the pads (handbrake off and wheels chocked) with some wood or something soft, hitting the wood with a hammer.
I find it best to park the car with the handbrake off but in 1st gearI've'e done this now for over 15 years before anyone says that's a no no, anI've'e had no bother.
Good luck.

Thanks Kevin. Gave them all a knock with the wooden end of the hammer in through the alloys. Only one seemed to move at all. Tried to drive off again and they all released with a clunk so all okay again. smile
Cheers.....

Hi Barry, sorry for the delay....

Chassis had major wear with lots of holes where it had basically worn thin and cracked! There problems weren't obvious until the coverings were peeled back. TVR Power were amazed at the extent of the problems and put it down to poor materials. Sections had to be cut out and replaced. There was no danger of the car collapsing, the problem would've been its strength in a crash.
I've got quite a few pictures if anyone's interested.

Cheers..... Andrew

Fook me, and here opens up a new chapter in T cars, that's quite worrying!!!!

I wonder how much impact the exhaust heat had on that?

I had similar on my Cerbera, just caught in time though. It looked like it was the heat from the cats that caused the problem and once chassis was sorted they put me some heat shield over the chassis on that side.

Waxoyl will only cover it up so it can't be spotted/rectified.

Andrew, that's a complete bummer - how old is your car? You ought to start a new thread titled 'beware T car chassis corrosion' or similar, and repost the pix. Not everyone will read this from just looking at a stuck brakes title, and a T car chassis problem like this will be a wake-up call to lots of owners to go and look.

Hi Geoff, it's one of the first two customer Tamoras that left the factory on the same day in late January 2002 and has covered 72,000 miles. Full details are in the blog.
The car is looked after by TVR Power and Dom was shocked by the state of the chassis so it's certainly not a common problem.
I'll start a new thread as you've suggested but don't want to start a panic. ;-)
Cheers.....
Andrew
