Bonnet slider bracket T350

Before I take the above apart and make my own, does anyone make a replacement part? I'm talking about the 200mm ali bracket with the slot in it that is used to locate the bonnet stay once open.
It amazes me how TVR can come up with some lovely engineering touches else where and then cock up the most seemingly simple of tasks!
What's happening on mine is that when you try to lift the bonnet the bolt with two plastic washers that sits in the slot jams slightly. IF the bracket WASN'T made of 0.00001mm Ali it would be ok but as it is it just flexes inwards towards the engine putting the bolt at even more of an angle and making it properly jammed. If there isn't a dealer fix I'll take the bracket off and get one milled up from 1/1.5mm sheet ali or steel so it doesn't flex. I'm sure I can think of something better than that rubbish bolt and two plastic washer arrangement as well....
I'm sure I'm not the only one with this.
P.S Read through the other list which had all known problems. Managed to tick all of them except the gear lever gaiter so, yup, its definately a T350! (just had the front light cover replaced and it has cured the fogging now..._)

I talked to clive reed about the same thing when I first bought my car. I'm sure he said that he'd made a longer bonnet stay for a griff and was interested in doing the same for the T350.

Pathetic design i think!!! however on the second day of ownership (from new) i removed the plate, drilled several more fixing holes, purchased half a dozen 1/2 no4 countersunk stainless self tappers,(this was a brave decision to take a drill to my brand new T350c!!)But it had to be done.
The prob is now solved, and has never reacured after nearly 18 months of ownership, been lots of other nigs in that time though!!
All of which are now ok, and at the moment the car is having it's 12 thousand mile service at Kerridges.

ps...My passenger side rear window nearly fell out on sunday, i think that the flour and water glue gave up in the heat!!!

so also on 2nd day of ownership I liberally greased both sides of the bracket with copaslip (brake grease that doesn't run when hot) No probs in 2500 miles.Very old thread, but I have the exact same problem even though the ali plate is a bit beefier.
I'd rather not put grease on there as I'd like to keep it shiny
